The Call Sermon Title and Scriptures May 15, 2016 Guest Preacher: Rev. David Hockensmith

Sermon Title and Scriptures May 22, 2016 “Community Spirit” Romans 5:1-5 John 16:12-15

Church Work Day – May 21st 9am-Noon As most of you know, Central Christian is hosting the MidAmerica Regional Assembly in October. This is a wonderful way for others to come to our church and see the many ways we are participating in the life of our community and showing the love of Christ to the world. Because we are wanting to show the best that Central Christian is, we are going to have work days in the months leading up to October so that we do not have a large amount of work just before the event. The first work day is going to be held on May 21st from 9AM to Noon. Please come in clothes that can get dirty as we are looking for people to help with painting, as well as other things. Pizza will be there at noon for all to eat. All are invited to come and be a part of this fellowship as we help the walls of our church glow with the same beauty as our members.

Vacation Bible School 2016 VBS will be June 16&17, 6-8pm (Dinner at 5:30) June 18, 9am-3pm We are still looking for volunteers! Please contact the church office if you can help on any or all of these days. Thanks, Joyce

As graduations are happening all over the nation, it is becoming clear that the school year is coming to an end. As the kids start to prepare for summer, there are events at and through the church which our children and youth will be able to participate. There will be times during the summer our youth group will get together to hang out and have fun as a group, but what is already on the calendar are events such as: Summer Camps: Our youth will be attending summer camps this year which are held at a variety of camp grounds all over the state of Missouri. As the region has sold the Rickman Center in Jefferson City, we embark on a new journey in outdoor ministry. It will be a fun time and a time of discovering new ways of interacting with God’s creation. Vacation Bible School: This summer we will be trying something new, VBS will be on June 16, 17, and 18, a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Thursday and Friday evenings from 5:15-8:00 and on Saturday from 9:00-3:00. We are hoping with this new schedule to be able to reach more children on the Saturday who might not be able to make it on Thursday and Friday because of a conflict. The theme for this year’s VBS is “Surf Shack: Catch the Wave of God’s Amazing Love.” If you would like to be a part of this event, please let Joyce Thomas know or call the church office. Mission Trip: Our youth group will be going to St. Louis this year for the mission trip from June 27-July 1. We will once again be joining 270 other youth from 18 churches across the U.S. While we are in St, Louis we will be doing a variety of work benefiting the homeless and impoverished population. There will be light home repair and maintenance, such as building wheel chair ramps, painting, cleaning, power washing, along with working in food pantries, and kitchens. We will build a few community gardens and provide summer activities for local children and housing residents. One of the needs we are aware of now is the need for summer infant/children clothing, men's clothing and all types of shoes (especially men's shoes). If you have any of these items, please bring them by the church office and let us know that it is for the Youth Mission Trip.

We appreciate all your help and support of our children and youth. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers this summer as they travel around the State of Missouri, representing Central Christian Church and showing what it means to be living in the light of Christ.
