Starting the first Sunday of November we will be having our Stewardship Campaign to prepare us for the upcoming year. The theme this year is “Go and Do the Same.” Based off the parable of the Good Samaritan, these are the words that Jesus ends with telling those listening to “Go and do the same.” The implication is that God is calling us to “go and do the same” as the Samaritan with our resources – material, human, and natural. This church has always gone out in to the world and shown the mercy of God to all those of God’s creation. From the different programs that we hold in the church to the different programs that we support through our volunteers or our donations. To be able to keep going out and doing the same that God and Jesus would do, the church needs help from everyone within our congregation. The different programs that we host within our walls, such as Culture Club and Breakfast for Santa help bring the community together and helps those within our community. We help with Boyd Elementary, giving aid to the teachers so they can buy needed supplies for their classroom. We host the school store in our building as they have run out of room, we host different events, with Community Partnerships, for the school, the kids, and the parents.

This year we are going to try something new. I was approached by the owner of a local business who wanted to help the community this Thanksgiving. They are going to donate food, cook the food, and help serve Thanksgiving dinner in our church on Thanksgiving evening. We are going to host the event and I am asking for volunteers to help serve the 200-250 people a hot Thanksgiving Dinner. This is going to be the first time, I believe, that Central Christian Church has done something like this and we want it to be a success. These are just some of the programs and ways that Central Christian Church follows the teaching of Jesus as we were taught to “Go and do the same.” I didn’t even mention our Reaching Out program that helps those within our community who are in need of funds during the year. I am proud of what Central Christian does for the community and as a part of the community of Springfield. We are going to keep the tradition of helping all in God’s creation, but we cannot do this without your help and support. So, this year as you are looking at what you can do for the church in the coming future, please keep in mind the many things that the church does and how wonderful it is to help all of God’s family. In Christ’s Love for All,
