Call to Order and Welcome Tara Green called the regular meeting of the Dallas Sports Commission Committee Meeting to order at 3:07pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2015. The meeting was held in the Dallas CVB Board Room.

II.

Approval of Minutes The minutes from April 22, 2015 were reviewed and unanimously APPROVED as presented.

III. 2014-2015 Goal Review Monica Paul explained that the Dallas Sports Commission (DSC) expects to be at 321,000 room nights by the end of September. She explained that the staff is preparing for 2016 and 2017. IV. Dallas Sports Commission Monica Paul introduced the Proposed Advisory Board list and explained the additional spots that have been added since the last meeting were based on a meeting held with Phillip Jones. Ms. Paul noted a letter of request will be sent to the potential Advisory Board members. Tara Green and Ms. Paul discussed the board would work on a calendar year and that there is no set number of board members allowed. The committee briefly discussed board changes and possible additions; as well as the issue of board designations and which potential members would be allowed to appoint a designee.

The committee also discussed how the TPID would determine the two additional representatives; as well as the Advisory Board policies/guidelines. Tara Green proposed and the Committee unanimously APPROVED the Proposed Advisory Board list with the exceptions previously discussed in the meeting. Other items discussed by Monica Paul were:  New website and its progress.  Mew contract with Splash Media to handle the DSC social media.  The DSC has taken over the Blackie Sherrod Award. Tara Green and Dave Brown discussed the Dallas All Sports Association (DASA) Awards and how the DSC could possibly partner with DASA. The Committee had a brief discussion on the possibility of a “give or get” policy for the new board and different ways to get board members involved in DSC events. V.

Bid & Event Discussion Monica Paul updated the committee on future as well as past events that have been bid on, and she discussed the planning of future events that have been awarded to Dallas. Ms. Paul gave an update on Event Trust Fund and what is different now that it has moved from the Comptroller’s Office to the Governor’s Office and updated the group on the DSC’s upcoming events.

The next Dallas Sports Commission Committee meeting is October 28, 2015 at 3:00pm.

There being no further business to come before the committee, the meeting was adjourned at 4:11 pm.
