The First Disciples |John 1:35-51 Doug Sachtleben, Lead Pastor October 15, 2017

As the transition from John the Baptist to Jesus Christ occurs, the gospel of John introduces us to the greatness, and glory, and grace of our Savior.

1. Jesus Invites (1:39, 43, 47)

2. Jesus Communes (1:39, 47-51)

3. Jesus Fulfills (1:41, 44-45)

4. Jesus Promises (1:50-51)

Questions to Consider 1. What are some ways in which your familiarity with Jesus Christ and the gospel has caused you to take Him for granted or to overlook His provision and blessings? 2. What are some things the apostle John does to help confirm that His is eyewitness testimony? 3. Put yourself in Andrew’s shoes. How might you begin to answer the question from Jesus – “What are you seeking?”? Is there any significance to that question? 4. What are some of the invitations that Jesus gave in the gospels? 5. How are the promises of Jesus about the Holy Spirit in John 14-16 relevant to us? Describe your communion with Jesus. What does it mean to be joined with Jesus Christ? 6. What are some of the ways in which Moses (Genesis-Deuteronomy) and the Old Testament Prophets look forward to Jesus Christ? 7. What’s the significance of the plural pronoun in 1:51 (“…I say to you all that you all will see…”)? 8. We may not fully understand it, but what does Jesus mean by His promise in 1:51? www.gracebiblelorton.com/sermons
