The First Reformed Church of Pompton Plains

Summer Sunday August 25, 2019 9 a.m. Outdoor Worship (beside Friendship Hall) 10:15 a.m. Sanctuary Worship

Welcome Our Mission FRC stands at the intersection of faith and life in our community. Our mission is to create experiences that connect us with Christ and inspire us to serve.

We Live That Through... OPEN DOORS We welcome all people regardless of race, ethnicity, ability, orientation or identity. We also welcome people with different cultural and political understandings. Our unity is found not in our uniformity, but in our desire to live and learn as followers of Christ. OPEN HEARTS We are all valued, loved and called to enter into a deep transformational relationship with Christ. We seek spiritual emotional, and relational growth, modeling our lives on Jesus’ life and mission. OPEN HANDS We guide people into a redemptive way of living, knowing that the way we behave towards one another is the reflective expression of what we believe. Our goal is to live wholeheartedly in the movement and love of Jesus Christ.

TODAY IN WORSHIP: We'll be hearing stories from recent youth mission trips to Belize, Philadelphia and West Virginia. Youth and adults will share their thoughts on how lives are changed by acts of kindness and justice. Dave Sippel will build on Kathleen's message that inspired us to go beyond acts of kindness in our pursuit of systemic, lasting change.

WELCOME GUESTS We are grateful for your presence and would love to connect. If we miss the opportunity to introduce ourselves, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself. For more information about our church, visit our website: www.firstreformedchurch.com

Reflection Before Worship Take care, don't fight, and remember: if you do not choose to lead, you will forever be led by others. Find what scares you, and do it. And you can make a difference, if you choose to do so. J. Michael Straczynski

RICH ROSSOW, DEACON: Rich has been a member of FRC for the past six years. He and his family, including his wife, Stephanie, and young children, Sophia and Justin, moved to Pompton Plains last year, in large part to be closer to their church family as we live out service to the community, sharing God’s love with the town. Rich was raised at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clifton, NJ. In high school, he became involved in Grace Church, a non-denominational church. Rich works as the service manager of a fire truck and ambulance repair shop in Little Ferry, NJ. What excites him about FRC right now is that we are moving forward with clarity around our mission and goals, while continuing to serve the community "as this church does SO well." Rich and Stephanie helped lead the Growing Connected Capital Campaign Large Group Gathering. He has joined us in working on several Habitat for Humanity builds and some of our refugee relief work. Rich is also a volunteer Little League Coach in Pompton Plains. HAYLEY BUNDZ, ELDER: Hayley was born and raised in the FRC community. While she was in college, she attended Restored Church in Wilkes-Barre PA, a contemporary non-denominational church and brings that experience to our leadership. After graduating college, Hayley went to work as an Engineer. She does hydraulic modeling for the engineering company HDR. She spends her days making computer models of sewer systems to simulate how water flows in them and how to fix problems like flooding and sewage backups. She is excited to see the Growing Connected Capital Campaign unfold and see how it will help us grow as a church. She also loves the sense of community that she feels at FRC and is excited to watch the community grow and expand. Hayley has been a great volunteer with the High School FUSE Youth program on Wednesday nights. She is also extremely involved with the Girl Scouts in her town and helps run a robotics program for Middle School girls.
