It’s about networking, exploring, and transforming

The Georgia Tech Basic Economic Development Experience When economic developers come from around the U.S. to attend the annual Georgia Tech Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC), they come for more than just lectures and assignments. MEMORABLE CONNECTIONS

Networking over refreshments, popular local tours, and campus run/walks are scheduled around the course to encourage learners to connect, and in some cases reconnect, with peers from around the U.S. and across organization levels. Over 3,000 economic development professionals have attended over the course’s 50-year history.

THE GATEWAY TO SUCCESS

Expert instructors work with learners to establish a solid foundation for an array of topics including business retention, workforce development, finance, managing organizations, and more. 10 diverse core areas are covered.

SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY

In the heart of Technology Square, the Atlanta skyline, popular attractions, and neighborhood eateries lay steps away from the course site — The Georgia Tech Global Learning Center. Walkable hotel options and public transportation add to our convenient location.

CREDIT THAT COUNTS

As an International Economic Development Council training host, learners earn core credit toward the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) certification. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) members can also earn continuing maintenance (CM) credit for attending the BEDC and any other IEDC course at Georgia Tech.
