The Getting Started Checklist A Note on Site Creation

There are different stages and goals when creating a website. Think about what you want your end product to be from a functional standpoint and work backward from there. It might be that for the first year of your business you just need an online presence for people to find you. If that’s the case, you can edit just enough of your template to accomplish that goal. Some people might have other businesses and/or goals that require the higher-functioning features the template provides.

How to Use This Checklist

Regardless of your end goal, we’ve created a checklist to get you started and become familiar with how the site works. Completing all the items on this checklist won’t mean your site is final, but it will give you a good foundation for creating and maintaining your online presence. Treat this checklist as suggestions, not mandatory requirements. Like an online form of bio-individuality, you and your site are unique. Some of these steps may not work for your vision of your Health Coach Website. Tweak these suggestions as needed to help you grow your site. As you work through the checklist, set aside anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour per day, or even twice a week, to tackle two or more of these steps at a time. This will help give you the confidence to manage your site and will have your site up and running before you know it. Logging On and Setting Yourself Up for Easy Editing ¨ 1. Write down your domain name, email, and password − this is how you will get back into your website! (You’ll receive this in an email as well. Be sure to look for the email so that you know you’ll always receive emails from LiveEdit.) ¨ 2. Go to Bookmarks in your web browser and create a new bookmark for your website log-in page. ¨ 3. Once you’ve logged in, go through the Onboarding Tour. Be clear on what all the items in the Navigation Menu are for. Design Schema – You’ll change these in Design Mode. ¨ 4. Choose a color theme for your site – something unique to you and that you enjoy. Use an online color scheme generator, like Coolors, for ideas. You can change the color of everything from links to buttons to your social media icons. ¨ 5. Decide on the font for your site. You can choose one or two complementary fonts, but try not to have too many different fonts as it can be distracting. ¨ 6. Change the background image or color on your site. This isn’t mandatory, but take the time now to make your site stand out!

Home Page Edits – You’ll change these in Edit Mode. ¨ 7. Add or change an image on your Home Page. This will customize the page and help you to practice adding images. ¨ 8. If you want a social media presence on your Home Page, drag and drop at least one social media element like Twitter or Facebook. ¨ 9. Add your business name to the copyright in the footer. ¨ 10. Personalize the text on your Home Page. IIN gives you default template copy, but be sure to add your own so that the site sounds like you. ¨ 11. Make sure all the links on your Home Page work correctly and that you don’t have any fake example content on your site. If your Home Page has a sample video or recipe, swap in a real one or delete the element. Site Settings *You probably completed these steps when setting up your site. Now’s the time to double-check that your settings are all correct. You’ll want to be in your Site Profile page for these steps. Get there by clicking your name in the top right corner of the Navigation Menu bar and then Site Settings from the dropdown menu. ¨ 12. Link your current business social media accounts in the social media section. These will automatically be linked on your Home Page. ¨ 13. Upload your logo, if you have one. This will update on your Home Page. ¨ 14. Update your tagline, if you have one. For example, “Health Coach working with women to overcome emotional eating.” This will appear just under your business name or logo on the Home Page. ¨ 15. Add your Favicon. The Favicon is the tiny icon that appears in the tab of the browser. The default is set to the IIN logo, but upload your logo image instead. Contact Information ¨ 16. Update the footer address and contact information on the Home Page. You can also remove contact information entirely from the page if you don’t want your address, email, or phone number to appear. ¨ 17. Confirm your contact information, preferences, and phrasing in the contact form linked to the Contact Page. It can be good to add your business email address and an approximate time frame for when a client or potential client should expect a response. ¨ 18. In the forms app on your Dashboard, using the Men’s History form, add your email to the Health History form setup so that you are notified when someone fills out a form. ¨ 19. Add your response to the Health History response message section in the Men’s History form. This is what a client will see when they’ve successfully submitted a form to you. ¨ 20. Repeat steps 18 and 19 for the other Health History forms (Women’s Health and the Revisit forms). Lead Generation Form

¨ 21. Click on the Lead Generation form link in the Forms app. Add your email as the email that responses are sent to so that you receive a notification when someone completes the form. ¨ 22. Decide whether you want someone who enters an email and asks for the form to be taken to a new page or just a lightbox (a box that will appear in front of the current page). ¨ 23. Select which of the three IIN cheat sheets you’d like as the PDF download attached to your Lead Generation form. You can change this at any point. ¨ 24. Edit what you’d like the page to say when someone submits an email and asks for the PDF. There is a place for copy above and below the “Download PDF” button. You can also change the text on the button itself. ¨ 25. If you want to create an entirely different Free Gift offer with a gift that you’ve created yourself, follow the steps in the Custom form. About You ¨ 26. Upload a picture of yourself to the About You page. ¨ 27. Edit the bio section so that this page shares your story. Remember that you can update this in the future, but make this space about you! ¨ 28. Edit the My Training page so that you include more information about your specific background and training as a Health Coach. Recipes ¨ 29. In the Recipe Library tab in your Recipe app, choose at least five recipes to add to your site. ¨ 30. In the Categories tab, create five categories. ¨ 31. Add an image to each of the categories. You can upload an image you own or choose a stock image from the Media Library and copy and paste the image’s URL. ¨ 32. In the Recipes tab, click on a recipe to edit it. Add a category to the recipe. ¨ 33. In that same recipe, add an image by uploading or dragging an image. ¨ 34. Add categories and images to the rest of your recipes. ¨ 35. In the Recipes tab, click the green “New” button and add your own recipe. Be sure to add an image and link it to a category. Blog ¨ 36. In the Blog section of your Dashboard, update your settings. This includes a title and description for your blog as well as your preferences for how the time and date are displayed. ¨ 37. Turn on IIN Blog posts if you’d like to receive the monthly posts from IIN to supplement your own blogging. ¨ 38. Add buttons for your social media accounts and connect your Facebook and Twitter accounts to share your blog posts on those media. ¨ 39. Set your sidebar and comment section settings. ¨ 40. Create a new blog post.

¨ 41. Set your blog post settings for when to publish the post. You can set it to a future date so that you can review the created post before it’s published. Add an excerpt and tags. ¨ 42. Add an image. ¨ 43. Publish a blog post.
