A Disciple is a person who makes a choice to love God and then makes choices to love others.

We will ... Love God, love others, and live authentically in this world. We live ... Forgiven means Forgiving others. Loved means Loving others. Praying means to be the answer to someone’s prayer.

Presc hool News If your children have ever had the opportunity to attend a Breakfast with Santa, you would know that it is always a special and memorable experience. My adult children still talk about the special festivities and, of course, sitting on Santa’s lap. This year the Church and Preschool will be hosting a Breakfast with Santa for the first time specifically for the children from the Lord’s Pantry. Although it is only early November, we are busy hanging Angels on the Christmas tree located in the preschool wing. We have asked our parents to provide a new gift for the children to receive at the breakfast. We always enjoy being part of the Church and helping to spread kindness and generosity to others. As the holidays quickly approach, I want to stop and thank you all for your continued support of the Preschool. As we keep all of you in our prayers, please do the same for us.

Nyadire Connection It has been one year since the Baldwin Community UMC Outreach Team introduced The Hearing Impaired Education Sponsorship Program, a new project with The Nyadire Connection. To date, we have 13 sponsors who assist the students with their school fees, maintain a pen pal relationship, and positively influence their futures! Because of this program, the Hearing Impaired Unit on the Nyadire Mission in Zimbabwe has greatly grown and developed sustainable short and long term goals. If you feel a calling or passion to become a sponsor or would like more information, please contact Molly at [email protected] or (412) 805-6481.

Operation Safety Net The Outreach Team will be collecting socks and deodorant for Pittsburgh Mercy’s Operation Safety Net and the Daily Bread Ministry this year. These ministries serve the homeless populations in Allegheny County. We would like to make this an ongoing collection throughout the year. Please consider donating men’s or women’s white tube socks – size extra-large, men’s or women’s large or extra-large underwear, feminine hygiene products, or men’s or women’s deodorant. All these items are needed all year long. There will be collection bins throughout the church.

Holiday Mail for Heroes The Voluntary Services Office at the Veteran Hospitals in Pittsburgh delivers holiday greetings to veterans. Our Outreach Team will be participating in this opportunity and is asking the congregation to participate as well. If you are interested in sending a card or cards to our veterans to wish them a Merry Christmas, here is what you need to do: Cards only – no letters, inserts or photos. You can use generic salutations such as “Dear Veteran.” Please sign your name but do not include addresses or email addresses. Do not include cards with glitter, as glitter can aggravate health conditions. There is no need for envelopes. You can drop your cards off in the collection boxes located throughout the church by Sunday, December 3rd.

Angel Tree On November 18th and 19th—the weekend before Thanksgiving,— the congregation is invited to select an angel (s) from the Angel Trees that stand at the entrance to the Sanctuary and Chapel. Each angel represents a child or youth and their gift request. Angels are from our Lord’s Pantry, Eight Avenue Place, Ward Home, Sonjourner House, and Lydia’s Place. Gifts are due by the weekend of December 2nd and 3rd so that the Outreach Team can inventory them on December 4th. Gifts may be returned in the marked bins located throughout the church. Gift cards can be placed in the Church Office in the marked box. Please tape the angel to the outside of the gift. Thank you for supporting these children and youth.
