I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.‟” Genesis 12:1–3 (NLT)

1. Who in your life would you say is obviously “blessed” by God? Why would you say that? 2. Describe a time when someone spoke a blessing over you? How did it impact you? 3. As a group, define what it means “to bless”. 4. Take turns reading aloud from Genesis 12:1–9. What promises does God give Abram? With what qualifications? 5. In the chapter before this (Genesis 11:4–9), God thwarted the name-making efforts of the people. What is different about Abram that causes God to make his name great?

8. Have someone read Hebrews 11:11–12, 17–19. Abraham makes it into the faith hall of fame, because he became a blessing to others. How would you like to be remembered?
