FRAMING GUIDELINES

INSTALLATION

• ResComR 18mm flooring can be fixed to steel or timber joists at 450mm centres

ResComR flooring can be fitted to a square or staggered layout, but must be staggered for tiled or vinyl finishes.

• Construction of timber framing must be in accordance with NZS 3604 – Timber-framed buildings.

Where waterproofing is required, ensure butt joints have a 2mm gap between them, and are filled with a suitable sealant prior to application of waterproof membrane.

• Construction of steel framing must be in accordance with NZ standards. • ShipLap ResComR Flooring may be joined mid span.

FIXINGS

• It is always advised that the level of supporting framing be checked prior to installation for accuracy to remove unforeseen installation issues.

When fixing Maglok sheets to joists, and bottom plate frames through Maglok to joist, always use minimum Class 3 non corrosive screws and bracing brackets, or Stainless steel screws and bracing brackets.

SPAN & LOADING GUIDELINES

Ensure framing is level and clean before fixing

18mm thick ResComR flooring is suitable for Categories A or B Class 5 conditions. See Fig. 1 below.

Shiplap join requires no nogging

Tests were undertaken in accordance with clause 8.2 of AS/ NZS 2908.2:2000.

When tested in accordance with AS/NZS 2908.2 2000 Sections 8.2.1 ‘Bending Strength’ and 8.2.2 ‘Soak Dry’ ResComR Flooring demonstrated no denotable decrease to its strength and performance. Collated screw gun can be used • 12mm minimum from edges and all butt joints • 50mm minimum from all corners • 200mm centres along joists Fixing into timber: Use No.10 x 40mm self embedding countersunk head screws Fixing into steel: Use No.10 x 30mm self-drilling, selfembedding countersunk screws. Approved structural adhesives and fire acoustic base adhesives must be used in conjunction with Class 3 non corrosive or Stainless screws. Full beads of adhesive to the face of the joist on beams prior to laying the boards. Warning: Copper piping is not recommended for use with Maglok ResCom flooring. Without suitable protection preventing contact between the copper and flooring board, there is a risk of long-term corrosion to the copper.
