“The One Thing God Wants”

“Now about the collection for God's people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve and send them with your gift to Jerusalem.” 1 Corinthians 16:1-4

Key Truth:

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-9

God wants to reconcile our relationship with both Himself and others.

Verse 4 – Remember = to recall and obey.

“Many of the people of Israel will he (John the Baptist) bring back to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous — to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” - Luke 1:16-17

“The disciples asked him, ‘Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?’ Jesus replied, ‘To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.’ Then the disciples understood that He was talking to them about John the Baptist.” - Matthew 17:10-13

My Next Steps:  This week, I will read the story of Elijah (1 Kings 17:1

through 2 Kings 2:11; Revelations 11:1-19).  This week, I will turn my heart toward God and pray

those around me do the same.  This week, I will pray for the spiritual protection and unity of FFC and for its members and leaders.
