IN OUR PARISH PARISH OFFICE VOICE MAIL The voice mail for the parish office (301-530-1550) has been out of order. If you call the parish office outside of office hours and are not able to leave a message for one of the clergy or staff, please call back during office hours (Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Saturday, 9:00 am 3:00 pm). CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS Volunteers are needed to help take down the Christmas decorations on Monday, January 13 at 12 noon. IN OUR MUSIC MINISTRY

from 8:00-10:00 pm, and sings for the Sunday 10:00 am Mass. The requirements to join are to have a love for music, and a willingness to learn. CONGREGATION SINGING Lastly, remember that not being part of a music ministry is not an acceptable excuse to not join in with congregational song. Together, we will all “Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord!”

REMEMBER IN PRAYER As we begin a new year, we also begin a new sick list. If you would like a name added to the list, call the parish office at 301-530-1550. . . . those who are sick, and all those in our nursing homes and hospitals.

CHANTAL MUSIC MINISTRY All Music Ministry Ensembles are accepting new members for the Spring semester. Being a part of Music Ministry is a great way to serve others and to become involved in the Parish. Learning music will offer you spiritual graces and is also scientifically known to improve quality of life! If interested in any of our parish music ensembles, please see the parish web site for more information or contact Russell Weismann at the Parish Office. HANDBELL ENSEMBLE The Chantal Handbell Ensemble is in need of four new members in order to be able to play all three octaves of their handbells. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 pm, and the ensemble plays at one Mass per month. This ensemble is a great opportunity for those who are not comfortable with their singing voice. CHANTAL ENSEMBLE The Chantal Ensemble now rehearses on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 pm in advance of the 5:00 pm Mass, at which they sing. This is the perfect opportunity for people to become involved who cannot commit to a weekday rehearsal. PARISH CHOIR The Parish Choir is the principle parish music ensemble and is in need of Altos, Tenors and Basses to fill out their ranks. This ensemble rehearses on Thursday evenings

. . . those who have died, especially Diogenes Tuason, Sr.

“Rise up in splendor, Jerusalem! Your light has come, the glory of the Lord shines upon you.” (Isaiah 60:1) As the astrologers found that Star, so we too, need to open our eyes to the Light. Once we experience the light of Christ, we can let our lights shine for the whole world to see.

THE SOLEMNITY OF THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD

STEWARDSHIP Today we remember the three wise men from the East who came to pay homage to the infant Jesus, bringing Him rich gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The gifts we bring — our time, service, and some share of what we earn for the work we do — are equally precious in His sight. PARISH SUPPORT

SECOND COLLECTION: MAINTENANCE The second collection this weekend, January 5/6, is our monthly collection to help with the repair and maintenance of our parish facilities. Recent and upcoming projects include adding a sign listing Masses for St. Louis de France Parish ($1,400), exchanging the smoke detector for a heat detector near the votive candles ($2,500), fix a steam leak under the floor of the Pre-Kindergarten room by jack hammering the floor and replacing the pipes ($7,600), conducting a grade survey of the grounds behind the PreKindergarten room to provide a solution for flooding of the room ($1,200), and removal of snow and ice during recent winter weather ($3,980). SECOND COLLECTION: CHURCH MISSION WITHIN THE U.S. The second collection next weekend, January 11/12, will be for Church Missions within the United States. It is directed to three important domestic missionary outreaches in the Church. First, it supports home mission dioceses in the U.S. which are unable to offer their people basic pastoral ministries of word, worship and service without outside help. Second, it supports needy Black and Native American communities in the U.S. with funds for parish support and evangelization needs. Third, this year it also supports the efforts of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, which takes care of those faithful from our archdiocese while they or an immediate family member are on active duty. POOR BOX Thank you for your contributions of $293.00 to Rosaria Communities. The Poor Box next weekend, January 11/12, will benefit Right to Life of Montgomery County. FAITH DIRECT ENROLLEES If you are enrolled in Faith Direct, please take the opportunity of a New Year to consider your commitment to the offertory and second collections. If you do decide to change your contribution amounts, remember to update those amounts by calling Faith Direct at 1-866-507-8757 or online at www.faithdirect.net. If you create an account online with Faith Direct, you will receive monthly email notices prior to credit card charges or bank account debits—which ever you have chosen for your contributions. You will also receive email notices if there is an issue with your credit card, such as if your credit card has expired.
