WELCOME NEW PARISHIONERS St. Jane de Chantal Parish welcomes those who have recently registered in our parish. If you attend Mass at St. Jane Frances de Chantal regularly, we encourage you to register as a member. Please complete a registration form and drop it in the collection basket when you attend Mass. SNOW POLICY FOR WEEKDAY MASSES If the Federal Government is closed due to inclement weather, St. Jane de Chantal will not hold either the 8:00 am nor 11:00 am weekday Masses. Please stay safe at home, and allow our snow removal crews to clear and treat our parking lots and walkways. If there is inclement weather on a weekend, any schedule changes will be announced on the parish website (www.stjanedechantal.org). RSVP to this event on facebook or at [email protected] so we can order enough copies of the book. SHEPHERD’S T ABLE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED A team of parishioners has started serving lunches to homeless people at Shepherd’s Table in Silver Spring. It is a twice-a-month commitment, on the second and fourth Monday of each month. The “De Chantal Church“ team would benefit from three to four additional volunteers to become fully sustainable on its own. For the moment, it is composed of retired parishioners who have fewer definite work occupations than those with a full-time job. The service requires availability from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. The team assembles at 11:15 am in St. Jane’s parking lot to drive to downtown Silver Spring. For more information and/or to volunteer, call Edouard Motte at 301-897-3763.

REMEMBER IN PRAYER As we begin a new year, we also begin a new sick list. If you would like a name added to the list, call the parish office at 301-530-1550. . . . those who are sick, and all those in our nursing homes and hospitals, especially Dianne Fay Dickinson. . . . those who have died, especially James Hartley and David Fitzgerald.

Katrina is a heart transplant recipient; thanks to all her doctors and research she is able to remain extremely active. This past summer Katrina participated in the

Life is not simply a bare succession of events, but a history, a story waiting to be told through the choice of an interpretative lens that can select and gather the most relevant data. In and of itself, reality has no one clear meaning. Everything depends on the way we look at things, on the lens we use to view them. If we change that lens, reality itself appears different. [...] For us Christians, that lens can only be the good news, beginning with the Good News par excellence: “the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Son of God” (Mk 1:1). Pope Francis, Message for World Day of Communications, 24 January 2017.
