IN OUR BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL

OCTOBER 29, 2017 such as man-made gecko "glue," man-made spider silk bridges, and using cockroaches' nook and cranny searching to our advantage for crime solving. We used an article from “TIME for Kids” in our text for our initial information and research. In both homerooms, the Gecko team reigned supreme, but only by a small margin to their competitors. GEOGRAPHY CLUB The De Chantal Geography Club used the MLB Baseball playoffs as a way to learn location and place. During the one of the October meetings, students used a North American map to write in city locations of MLB Teams using only latitude and longitude coordinates. Students also created their own globes and completed the National Geographic Continents Quiz. EXCITING AND INFORMATIVE FIELD TRIPS This week, pre-k and the third grade took a trip to Butler's Orchard to pick pumpkins, take a hay ride, play on the slides and hay bales, pet the animals, and enjoy the beautiful Fall weather. The third grade extended their learning from the farm by creating their own pumpkin life cycles. The eighth grade traveled to the Washington, D.C. Mall to explore museums that interested them. Students were able to travel in small groups around the mall, taking in the history and information each museum had to offer.

REPECT LIFE MONTH: POPE FRANCIS “An often narcissistic and utilitarian vision unfortunately leads not a few to consider people with disabilities as marginal, without perceiving in them the multifaceted human and spiritual wealth. [...] [Catechesis] is called to discover and experience coherent forms so that each person, with their gifts, their limits and their disabilities, even serious ones, is able to encounter Jesus on their path and abandon themselves to him in faith.” Pope Francis, speech, Catechesis and Persons with Disabilities: A Necessary Engagement in the Daily Pastoral Life of the Church, Clementine Hall, 21 October 2017.
