CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2015 GOLF TOURNAMENT WINNER — THE PALM BEACH POST Palm Beach Post team wins Chamber Cup. Last month the Chamber hosted its Annual Golf Tournament held at PGA National Resort and Spa. The tournament’s winner of the Corporate Cup was The Palm Beach Post and the team name will be engraved on the trophy proudly displayed in the Chamber lobby. Its players included Brent Valdov, Patrick Fitzgerald, Jim Mostad and Andy Blizzard. Jones Lang LaSalle, was the second place foursome with members Kevin Propel, Scott Butler, Shaun Blogg and Mark Holzhausen. Event sponsors included South Florida Business and Wealth, Continental Breakfast sponsor; Braman Motorcars, Hole in One sponsor and Southwest Airlines, Airline sponsor.

New Business Editor addresses Trustee members

Antonio Fins, newly named Business Editor at The Palm Beach Post, addressed more than 30 Trustee members at breakfast. He shared two new additions to the Business Section that will begin this summer. Fins also stressed his desire to work closely with the business community to ensure timely and accurate reporting on issues of concern to our local economy.

Chamber July Breakfast speaker The Chamber announces Florida’s State Surgeon General John Armstrong, MD, FACS will be the guest speaker at the July 16 breakfast. Dr. Armstrong was appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as Surgeon General and Secretary of Health for the State of Florida on April 27, 2012. A graduate of Princeton University, the University of Virginia School of Medicine and the United States Army Command and General Staff College, Dr. Armstrong believes that education and training are drivers for change. Dr. Armstrong came to the Florida Department of Health having previously served as the Chief Medical Officer of the USF Health Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation in Tampa, where he worked to bring health care professionals together through hands-on team training.

Dr. Armstrong was appointed by Gov. Scott as Surgeon General and Secretary of Health.

Panthers executive speaks to Chamber Trustees Peter Luukko, Executive Chairman of the Florida Panthers NHL franchise, addressed the Chamber Trustees this week. Luukko, a former executive with the Philadelphia Flyers, outlined the exciting future of the Panthers. The commitment of ownership to putting a highly competitive team on the ice was reflected in the recent NHL draft picks of the Panthers. Chamber Making Waves at Business After Hours The Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches set sail at this month’s Business After Hours Event. On Wednesday, June 24, more than 100 attendees took time after a productive day at work to come cruise with us aboard the Majestic Princess. They connected with fellow Chamber members and gained potential business referrals.

It was an evening of networking over drinks, appetizers and sightseeing — all whilst enjoying the panoramic Intracoastal Waterway of West Palm Beach. Call for ATHENA nominations Nominations are now being accepted for the 2015 ATHENA Awards, presented by Wells Fargo.
