THE POWER OF PRAYER: SKITTLES EXPERIMENT! This experiment is colorful, easy and makes a great statement about what we are asking God to do when we pray. In essence, prayers are a way of joining with God and asking Him to have an effect on the world and situations around us. We pray because we believe that our prayers, through God’s power, will make a difference to the world. In this activity, color is released from the Skittles into the surrounding water, creating a colorful picture, symbolic of how the prayers we raise to God are a way of joining with Him to do His work on earth.

Supplies: 1. Skittles 2. Hot water (not scalding, but hot enough to make the color run) 3. A plate or shallow dish

Directions: 1. Arrange the Skittles around the edge of the plate.

2. Pour hot water onto the plate to cover the surface. Pour carefully so the Skittles stay in place. 3. Skittles will gradually release their color.

Alternative Method: 1. Cover the surface of the plate with hot water 2. Add Skittles one-by-one as you think of someone and pray for them.
