Rolling Hills Community Church | Franklin | T Lusk Prayer: More Than Words August 26 | The Practice of Prayer …Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10 Purpose of Prayer - Why do we pray? Passion of Prayer - Who do we pray to? Pattern of Prayer - What are you praying? Practice of Prayer - Are you Praying? What happens when you pray? Prayer is a discipline that is learned and practiced. One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When He finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” Luke 11:1 •

Christ always meets us where we are and moves us on towards maturity.

Christ is a willing and gracious teacher.

Christ teaching anticipates practice.

Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Matthew 7:24 Prayer is a discipline that restores. …Your Kingdom come, … on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10 •

The Practice of Prayer turns our eyes to our King and His Kingdom.

God’s Kingdom is His reign, His authority, His Lordship, and His Sovereignty.

Praying God’s Kingdom would come on earth is a confession, a petition, and a declaration.

When we pray, we rehearse the restoration brought by the Gospel.

Prayer is a discipline that transforms. …Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10 •

The Practice of Prayer transforms us by aligning our will to God’s will.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8-9 •

Greater alignment to God’s will comes with a deeper relationship with God.

A deeper relationship with God comes when we are still and listen to God when we pray.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Psalm 37:7
