The Twelve Days of Christmas What do you think of when you hear the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas”? If you had lived in England from 1558 to 1829, you might have thought about this song a lot differently. Roman Catholics were prohibited by law from practicing their faith both publicly and privately. For writing or talking about their beliefs they could be imprisoned…or worse. They had deep faith in Christ and wanted to share their love of the Savior with their children. They wrote a song that taken literally has nothing to do with Christ but they taught their children that each day represents one of the gifts our Heavenly Father has given to us. So while singing about pear trees and calling birds they could be thinking about Jesus and the four gospels that proclaim His divinity. I believe in Christ and want to share that with you. Today unfold your Christmas tree and put it in a special place with your treasure box nearby to hold your gift cards. Each day you will receive a card telling you about a gift from your Heavenly Father and an ornament to hang on your tree. While we may celebrate Christmas on one day, or even twelve days, the gifts God has given us are gifts we can enjoy everyday. I hope you have a very special Christmas and a wonderful year.
