No Compromise Galatians 1:6-10 Galatians 1:6-10 6I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- 7which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! 10Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. The Reality of Compromise (Verse 6)  Paul confirms the reality that Christians can compromise and

abandon faith in Christ.  Compromise is a: 1) Present Process 2) Voluntary Choice  Nothing should ever make us abandon Him who paid the price for our salvation and called us in grace. The Reason for Compromise (Verse 7)  There is no alternative to which to turn—no other “Gospel”. Yet some through confusion are turning.  Confuse: shake or stir up; cause an uproar; disturb, unsettle, be troubled, upset, agitated; be intimidated  Reasons we turn away:  Persuasion  Fear  Desire  Ignorance  Convenience

The Resolve against Compromise (Verses 8-10)  Paul is so adamantly opposed to compromise that he would declare

a curse against anyone who would preach a different gospel.  Anathema: cursed, under the curse of God; bound by a solemn vow  As much as Paul sought to reach people for Christ, Paul refused to alter the Gospel to make it more attractive or palatable to find favor or win acceptance with them—to be a “man pleaser”. CONCLUSION: There is only one true Gospel which must be obeyed and preached in absolute truth without compromise. You cannot serve both man and God. For Paul, the servant of Christ knows only absolute obedience to the will of the master. To constantly live in the shackles of pleasing men and seeking their favor is the worst kind of bondage for man and can never provide salvation and fulfillment. To be a slave of Christ is to be free. Where do you stand on the Gospel?
