*Affirmation of Faith: The Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Blessing and Honor
*Call to Confession and Corporate Prayer of Confession O God, you tend us gently and care for us completely, while we wander and stray, still wanting, in spite of what you have provided for us. Take away our sin. Still our hearts. Restore our souls. Lead us in the paths of righteousness. Nourish us. Anoint us. With goodness and mercy, fill us. We pray in the name of the Jesus, the Good Shepherd. Amen. (Silent Confession)

Music in This Morning’s Worship Service I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the understanding also. (I Corinthians 14:15)
This Morning’s Hymns: Blessing and Honor and Glory and Power was originally published by Horatius Bonar as an eight stanza hymn entitled “The Song of the Lamb.” To fully appreciate the spirit and message of the hymn it is necessary to read the superb description of the music of heaven contained in this morning’s reading from Revelation on which the hymn is based. [and the creatures and beings in heaven sang] Worthy is the Lamb that was slaughtered to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing…to the one seated on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!
We Walk by Faith and Not by Sight was written by 19th century theologian Henry Alford. It contains allusions to several familiar gospel stories including the blindness visited on Paul in his call to ministry. The hymn further confesses that our faith is seldom pure. More often, human faith is an odd mixture of hope and doubt. The 20th chapter of John recounts the story of Thomas whose doubts in the risen Christ could be overcome only by placing his hands on the wounds of Jesus. His faith restored the disciple cries out, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus responds, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.” The gospel of Mark have us the story of a father beseeching Jesus to heal his son. Jesus replies, “All things can be done for the one who believes.” The father’s response is a desperate but honest one in which he expresses the strength and the weakness of his faith. “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
Here I Am, Lord was written by Jesuit Priest Daniel Schutte in 1981. The occasion of its writing was a service of diaconate ordination. Each stanza tells the needs of God’s people and the divine care intended for them. The stanzas end with the interrogative found in Isaiah 6:8 in which God asks, Whom shall I send? Ascribing its strength to God, the congregation confidently replies,
Here I am, Lord. I will go, Lord, if you lead me…
This Morning’s Anthem/Solo The Trumpet Shall Sound Text: I Corinthians 15:51-54
Music: G.F. Handel
Behold, I tell you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet: The trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed.

Jesus' repetition isn't meant as rebuke but as absolution: three invitations to confess in order to wipe away three denials just days earlier. In and through this tri-fold pattern of question and confession Peter is restored – to himself, to his Lord, to the discipleship community. And yet it is more than that, too, for Peter is not merely forgiven and restored but also commissioned. ~ David Lose
