Week 21

THINGS WHICH MUST SHORTLY COME TO PASS A STUDY OF REVELATION—PART 21 Chapter 13 is a revelation of two beasts. The first beast comes up out of the sea. (Revelation 13:1) This beast is the Antichrist who receives his power from the Devil. (Revelation 13:4) The second beast comes up out of the earth. (Revelation 13:11) This beast is the false prophet. (Revelation 16:13)

I.

THE SATANTIC TRINITY A. It is important to understand that Satan is an imitator. B. The Godhead consists of three Persons. 1. God the Father 2. God the Son 3. God the Holy Spirit C. The Devil will also have three persons: 1. The Devil himself. (Revelation 13:11) 2. The Antichrist. (Revelation 13:2) 3. The false prophet. (Revelation 13:11) D. The false trinity is further seen: 1. Revelation 16:13: “And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet.” 2. Revelation 20:10: “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”

II.

THE DECEPTION OF THE DEVIL IS SEEN (REVELATION 13) A. Here we have another beast. (13:1) 1. Note the word “another.” (13:1) 2. This beast will be another of the same kind. 3. He will be of the same nature. 4. He will have the same intention. B. This beast was “like a lamb”. (13:11) 1. This is the only time in the Revelation when a lamb does not refer to the Lord Jesus Christ. 2. Jesus is the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world. (John 1:29) 3. This beast mocks the Lamb of God, claiming himself to be a lamb, 4. Thus, by his impersonation he is a religious leader. 5. That is the reason he is called a “prophet.” (16:13) C. The beast is part of a fake resurrection. (13:12) 1. We have noted this happening before. (13:3) 2. The Antichrist supposedly faced death and was resurrected. (13:3,12)

This beast had “two horns,” meaning he had less power than the first beast. B. This beast is “like a lamb.” (13:11) 1. He wants to appear to be Christ-like. 2. He wants to appear to be mild. 3. He wants to appear to be meek. 4. He is an icon of Christ in the earth. 5. This beast will win the religious world by talking about: a. Loving b. Accepting c. Diversity d. Gender e. Equality C. The minute this so-called “lamb” speaks, it is the voice of Satan. (13:11)

a. The power of Satan. b. The authority of Satan. 4. This beast is the mouthpiece of the Devil via the Antichrist.

(Revelation 13:12: “And causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast.”) B. The false prophet uses the powers of Hell to get the attention of earth. 1. He will do “Great wonders.” (Revelation 13:13) a. Pharaoh’s magicians turned their rods into serpents b. Satan sent fire and destroyed Job’s sheep and Job’s servants c. The Apostle Paul told of such a day: “Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them what perish; because they receive not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.” (II Thessalonians 2:9, 10) 2. The False Prophet “Maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.” (Revelation 13:13) C. The False Prophet will perform “miracles.” (13:14) 1. His proclamation that the Antichrist was dead and is now alive becomes an attention-getter. (13:12,14) B. Both Daniel and Jesus spoke of this event. 1. Daniel 9:27: “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” 2. Matthew 24:15: “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand;)” C.
