THINGS WHICH MUST SHORTLY COME TO PASS A STUDY OF REVELATION—PART 2 Today we look at the Patmos vision of Revelation. Patmos was a Roman colony. Its location is off the southwest coast of Asia Minor and is known today as Turkey. When people committed crimes on mainland Rome they were banished and exiled to this desolate island where they were forced to engage in hard labor in mines. John was probably around 90 years of age at this time. He would be called upon to do exhausting labor while receiving insufficient food and clothing and probably slept on the ground.

The key verse of Revelation is 1:19: “Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter.” 1. “…the things which thou hast seen…”—Chapter 1—The Christ 2. “...the things which are…”—Chapters 2, 3—The Church 3. “…the things which shall be hereafter.”—Chapters 4-22—Consummation
