A D O R A T I O N

* Hymn of Adoration, #232 “Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence” Let all mortal flesh keep silence, And with fear and trembling stand. Ponder nothing earthly minded For with blessing in His hand, Christ our Lord to earth descendeth, Our full homage to demand. King of Kings, yet born of Mary, As of old on earth He stood. Lord of Lords, in human vesture In the Body and the Blood He will give to all the faithful, His own Self for heavenly food. At His feet the six-winged seraph, Cherubim with sleepless eye, Veil their faces to the Presence, As with ceaseless voice they cry, “Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, Lord most High.” Words: Gustav Holst; Public Domain: Tune: Picardy

Mark Israel, Stephen Hock, David Martz, Trumpet

* Prayer of Adoration * Lighting of the Advent Candle - Love **Welcome and Greetings * Songs of Expectation “Good Christian Friends, Rejoice” Good Christian friends, rejoice, with heart and soul and voice; Now ye hear of endless bliss: Joy! Joy! Jesus Christ was born for this! He has opened the heavenly door, And man is blest forevermore. Christ was born for this! Christ was born for this! Good Christian friends, rejoice, with heart and soul and voice; Now ye need not fear the grave: Peace! Peace! Jesus Christ was born to save! Calls you one and calls you all, to gain His everlasting hall. Christ was born to save! Christ was born to save! Word: Latin Carol, para. by John Mason Neale; Public Domain; Tune: In Dulci Jubilo

“Beloved” Burst into songs together, sing with endless joy! For unto God, our Father, is born a heavenly boy! Emmanuel, Jesus is born on earth. All is well, because of our Savior’s birth. Refrain: My beautiful one, come with me – Arise, Beloved, and come! The season of singing now appears! Arise, my beautiful one. The Lord, your God is with you, And He is mighty to save: A child is born to rescue – And He is calling our name! Be not afraid, He’s coming, making all things right! Prepare the way for Jesus, His Light shines bright in the night. Our Lord will reign, nothing can stop His love! At His Name, the heavens rejoice above! Refrain Words and Music by James DeJarnette

Our Advent series, Beloved, is about focusing on the greatest love story ever told, the love of God for us, His creation. God loved us so much that He sent His Son to suffer and die on our behalf. Christmas is a celebration of the beginning of that story. The book Song of Songs captures the deep passion of those yoked in marriage, but it’s also a metaphor for Jesus Christ and His bride, the church. Song of Songs 2:16 says, “My beloved is mine and I am his.” That is how Jesus feels about us. God is coming over the hills to reach you, to save you, to bring you home…and to call you His Beloved.
