Thrive Fall Series “Relational Essentials” Hebrews 3:12 Hebrews 10:23-25 (Bible pp. 1002 & 1007) Bob Myers, Lead Pastor October 28 & 29, 2017 Healthy, Christ-centered, relationships are a necessary part of spiritual vitality. You do not drift towards these kinds of relationships. You have to be intentional. Quotes from the Cutting Room Floor Hebrews 3:12 Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God.13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. When Jesus started His ministry, the very first thing He did was form a small group.-Rick Warren Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.-Margaret Mead A church must grow larger and smaller at the same time. Larger through worship and smaller through small groups. –Rick Warren John Wesley wasn’t persuaded that someone had made a decision for Christ until that person became involved in a small group. -Joel Comiskey When the New Testament was written, the typical church was so small that it was, in essence, a small group. –Larry Osbourne If you are a member of a small group or class, I urge you to make a group covenant that includes the nine characteristics of biblical fellowship: We will share our true feelings (authenticity), forgive each other (mercy), speak the truth in love (honesty), admit our weaknesses (humility), respect our differences (courtesy), not gossip (confidentiality), and make group a priority (frequency).-Rick Warren Acts 5:42 And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus.
