THRIVE@HILTON: SPIRIT PURPOSE & CREATIVE RECOGNITION ACTIVITIES TIP SHEET Use the tips below to plan special Team Member Appreciation activities inspired by the Thrive@Hilton “Spirit” pillar, which helps Team Members dare to dream and connect with purpose. Share your activities on the Hilton Recognition website for a chance to win some great prizes. And, encourage your team to check out the all of the submissions and “like” their favorites!

Below are some fun ideas for Purpose activities: 1. Hold a Purpose photo contest inviting Team Members to submit an original photo that they believe represents the Vision, Mission or Values. 2. Hide items with each of the Values written on them around the hotel/office and challenge Team Members to find all six. Anyone who completes the challenge will win a prize. 3. Host a team activity where the words of the Vision and/or Mission are mixed up and see who can put them in the right order most quickly. And/or, ask each team to identify with actions that demonstrate each value and see who can create the longest list. 4. Invite each department to decorate their area in a way that aligns with Purpose, and give away prizes for the most beautiful and most creative. 5. Host a “Purpose Party” with foods that are named after parts of our Purpose, such as Hospitality Hamburgers/Hummus, Integrity Ice Cream/Ice Pops, Leadership Linguini/Licorice/Lemonade, Teamwork Teriyaki/Tapioca/Tom Yum, Ownership Onion Rings/Oranges, Now Nachos/Nuts/Nectarines, etc. Or, provide drinks/smoothies that are named after our Values. 6. Hold a Purpose talent show where each department shares a skit that they feel represents our Purpose. Consider having the Executive Committee kick it off. 7. Create a Purpose board and invite Team Members to share examples of how they see other Team Members/departments bringing the Purpose to life. 8. Provide a gift for each Team Member that includes our unifying principle, “We Are Hilton. We Are Hospitality.” on it. Check out the e-Store (www.Hilton.com/teamstore) for ideas and items to order! 9. Have Team Members nominate and/or vote for a Team Member who best represents each of our Values, and recognize the winners during a team celebration. 10. Have a Purpose Pancake breakfast for overnight shift Team Members hosted by the General Manager.

Below are some fun ideas for Creative Recognition activities: 1. Consider providing a complimentary car wash for Team Members, like the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Beachwood-Cleveland did last year. Hire a company to execute or even better, consider asking leaders to jump in and scrub cars for a fun and creative thank you. 2. Create a Managers Thank You video, like Hilton Sharks Bay Resort did last year. They held a meeting with all department heads where the Vice President delivered a motivational speech, facilitated recording the video and helped leaders plan their personalized appreciation tactics to deliver to each of their teams.

3. Plan a week-long health and wellness recognition event, like the Hilton Al Hamra Beach & Golf Resort did last year. Mid-way through the week, they surprised their team with a live pasta cooking station in their Team Member cafeteria so they could order pasta as per their taste. Later in the week they distributed “Blue Energy” bars and healthy juices to the entire team on duty, as well as organized various classes such as – Yoga, Zumba and Boxing. 4. The Hilton Anatole Executive Committee decided to recognize their Team Members and let them have a little fun at their expense. The end result – Pie your EC in the face and EC Water Cage Challenge. They combined this event with their annual fundraiser creating great excitement among the entire team. 5. The Home2 Suites by Hilton Austin North recognized their Team with a talent show, including guitars and a karaoke machine.

*Team Members include employees at Hilton corporate offices and its owned and managed properties, and employees of franchisees who work on property at independently owned and operated franchised properties in the Hilton portfolio.
