Thursday 29th March 2018 Dear Parents Learning update this week … we have really enjoyed looking at and sharing our ‘egg-cellent’ homework, they really were ‘egg-ceptional’ and we feel everyone had made an ‘egg-stra’ effort, thank you! We talked about and demonstrated our understanding of the life cycle of a hen. As well as enjoyed making our egg cards and using a variety of media to create them. Everyone had fun on Mills Merit Treat Day; taking part in a selection of activities, especially going on the new balance bikes. Everyone was able to complete our egg hunt maths challenge, finding the eggs and counting how many they had collected. We then worked out who has collected the most and the least and if anyone had collected the same. After the holiday we will be …  Introducing our new topic ‘Our local community and people who help us.’  Starting with naming the external and internal features of our own houses, then looking at the different types of houses around our community.  Using construction materials to build model houses.  Making model houses (Please send any empty cereal boxes and toilet roll tubes you have into school).  Using positional language. How can I help my child at home? Talking homework: Ask your child to think about the rooms in their house then ask questions for them to think about the names of rooms and what we use them for e.g. Which room do you sleep in? Where would you find a toilet? Which room would you find a cooker in? Encourage your child to answer in full sentences. To extend your child’s learning, see if they can come up with a question for you to answer. Superstar learner’s homework: Use the house sheet to discover which parts of a house your child knows (Please tick the ones they know). Then use this opportunity to see if they can find and point to these on their own house. If you have any questions come and speak to Mrs Sullivan or Miss Kirkbride or e-mail [email protected]. Have a safe and happy holiday and we will see you all on Monday 16th April. The Nursery Team
