Talk about it. o Start with a candid discussion between coach and leader. Together you can come up with a plan that targets the issue of the specific group, i.e. childcare distractions, lack of leadership skills, etc. o Individual group members might be the problem—discuss how to lovingly address it. o Individual group member input—are there members who can offer wisdom? o Talk as a group…honestly. Maybe people want to give feedback but don’t know how to begin. o Coach & members. Perhaps the leader perspective isn’t accurate. A coach might confidentially talk to a trusted group member. Coach visits. This might be a good time for a group visit to see the group from another perspective. Re-organize the meeting. For example: o Simply reverse the order (food first, then discussion). o People can share their faith story o Spend a whole night praying for specific people. o Divide people into 2 or 3 groups (i.e. men/women) and let discussions be more personal. Try shared leadership. Allow others to lead parts of the meeting or the group discussion for a season. New location. Sometimes a different environment will affect the dynamic. Socialize. Do something together--just for fun--that will help people relax and draw them closer to each other. Invest. Organize a group activity that will benefit others and solidify the group. Food. For some reason, meals always enhance relationships. Pray. Devote serious prayer time to the issue, beforehand and within the group.

Recommit. Review the ‘Essentials of a Life Group’ (found on the Leadership Resources tab) and ask group members if the group is meeting their needs. If not, discuss how to end well. If so, discuss how group members recommit to the success of the group.
