Tom Grainger

Tom has had a lengthy career within local government prior to his retirement as chief executive of Weymouth and Portland Borough Council in 2011. His previous service included senior financial management posts in South Somerset and Southampton. An advocate of excellent public services and a disciple of strong finance and good governance controls, he is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and a mathematics graduate. In addition to being a member of the independent Audit Committee for Dorset Police, Tom is also Clerk to the Chesil Trust (a charity supporting young or disabled people in sailing), a non-executive director of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, a non-executive director of Ansbury (a social enterprise company providing careers guidance) and a non-executive director and Trustee of SafeWise (a charity promoting community safety). In his spare time Tom enjoys watching too much football.
