Training and Development Officer Location: Support Centre – Fouberts Place, London Contractual hours: 39 hours per week Start Date: August 2015 Duration: Permanent Job Purpose Summary To support the business to achieve its strategic plan & objectives, and maintain Hamleys unique point of difference, through the planning, organisation, consistent delivery, design and evaluation of the training and development offer.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities General  Coordination and delivery of the Retail team workshops, in accordance with the agreed training calendar  Support the International Franchise stores with new store openings, brand immersion visits and other ongoing training needs, as required  Build and maintain strong collaborative relations with Store Management and trainers in the domestic and International business – ensuring all stores deliver training the Hamleys Way  Attend weekly store development meetings (domestic and international), inputting on the critical path  Support the T&D Manager with the design, delivery and updating of training tools  Support & coaching for staff & management to drive development and succession in store  Assist operational training as required e.g. Tills/ Health and Safety  Design local training initiatives for local training needs  To maintain & regularly update the T&D section of the Hamleys Franchise Resource Centre  To help create and maintain an annual training calendar  To ensure all stores are consistent in their delivery of the training and development offer  Continually evaluate all training activities and tools and propose amendments, improvements and next steps.  Effectively launch all new training tools, resources, programmes & offers across our stores (domestic and internationally)  Work with the T&D Manager in the design and evolution of the team L&D offer  To organise management induction programmes House   

Keeping Maintain accurate training records/logs Regular review/update of all training material Coordinate the production of all training resources

Ad hoc    

Ad hoc projects as required as directed by the T&D Manager/Head of HR To actively support employee engagement and communication initiatives, e.g. weekly updates, notice boards, monthly newsletter, award/incentive schemes etc. Attend morning and weekly meetings Assist the Management with recruitment assessments where required

 

To constantly challenge ‘the norm’ and look for improved methods of T&D Work experience coordination, as required.

Specific Job Skills:      

Previous training and development experience Excellent planning and organisation skills Proven track record of training delivery Previous experience working in a retail or hospitality environment Excellent, effective, communication skills both written and verbal Experience working remotely

Computer skills: 

IT literate in use of Microsoft Office software
