Transferring to another BCHA property If you wish to transfer to another BCHA property, we will: • • • • • •

Send you a transfer form and information about how we assess transfers. Arrange to visit you at home within 14 working days, once we receive your transfer form to discuss your application and inspect your home. Advise you whether we feel you should redecorate your home or repair any damage you (or those living with you) have caused. We will not allow you to transfer until these works are done. Place you on the waiting list for a transfer if your application is accepted and let you know what priority, if any, you have been given. Review your application every three months. Let you appeal to the Head of Housing against any decision not to allow a transfer, or to give you enough priority, as long as you notify us within 28 days of our decision.

When you are offered a property we will: •

Meet you at the property to show you around before you decide whether to accept the offer.

If you wish to swap homes with another tenant, we will: • • • •

Visit the person you wish to exchange with (unless they live outside our area). Give you an opportunity to clear any arrears. Get in touch with the other landlord. Aim to approve the exchange request within 28 days (although we have 42 days in which to make a decision) as long as we have received all the information we need from the other party and you qualify for the swap. If we turn down your request, you may appeal to the Head of Housing within 28 days of our decision.
