ENGINEERING SURVEYING ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING

This $40M Design-Build project involved the realignment of Dixie Highway, a 4-lane divided urban arterial which bridges the Hillsboro Canal, NE 2nd Avenue, Florida East Coast Railway (FEC), North River Avenue, NE 1st Avenue and NE 2nd Street. Other improvements include a pedestrian pathway structure, an off-ramp structure, new stormwater management facilities, utility relocations, decorative lighting, new signalization equipment, upgrades to two at-grade crossings of the railroad track, and landscape enhancements. Completed in July 2012, the project has been honored with multiple awards, including the 2012 “Class II Project of the Year” Award from the Steel Erectors Association of America, the 2013 “Grand Award” from the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers (FICE), the 2013 FICE/FDOT “Project of the Year” Award, the 2013 FTBA “Best in Construction” Award and the 2013 ACEC National “Grand Conceptor” Award.

Turnpike Mainline Interchange at I-595 – This project consisted of the realignment of several of the Florida Turnpike/I-595 interchange ramps to improve current conditions and to accommodate future reversible lanes.

Big John Monahan Bridge Replacement – This $32M designbuild project consists of upgrading a two-mile section of State Road 710, including replacement of the Big John Monahan Bridge over the St. Lucie Canal in Martin County.

1.)

Jog Road Extension, Palm Beach County, FL - WGI was responsible for the preparation of roadway and signing and pavement marking plans required for a 1.1-mile extension of Jog Road from Hood Road to Donald Ross Road and 0.6 miles of widening improvements to Donald Ross Road from the Jog Road extension to 64th Drive North. 2.) Southbound I-95 Weigh-in-Motion Station, Martin County, FL - WGI was selected for the “Honor Award” by the 2012 Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers Engineering Excellence Awards Program for designing this innovative, safe, environmentally sensitive and operationally efficient project. 3.) Suncoast Parkway/Lutz Lake Fern Road Interchange, Hillsborough County, FL – WGI was selected by Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise to construct the new interchange at Lutz Lake Fern Road on Suncoast Parkway.
