'Transfer the Blessings' (TTB) Sunday - May 7 If you're like most people, you have - either in your mind or on paper - a list of those things you know Church Office: 252-3670 you need to get done, but that you keep putting off and Church Fax: 202-1095 E-mail: [email protected] haven't gotten around to yet. For the majority of AmeriWebsite: www.trinitysr.org cans, one item on that list is having a legal will in place. No doubt, there are Office Staff 252-3670 many reasons for this procrastination: no one to educate me, encourage me, Pastor Paul Cloeter help me . . . don't plan to die! As unrealistic as it is, that last 'excuse' is often Pastor Dave Strohschein the main reason why "making a will" remains on many people's above menPastor John Bakou tioned list. Pastor Harvey Ehlers, Emeritus However, no longer can you say there's nobody to educate, encourage DCO: Craig Cooper or help me with this urgent and necessary task. That's because we now have Admin. Assistant: Judy Rehwaldt at Trinity a committee in place to assist our members with their estate planning needs, including the process of making a will. The "Transfer the Blessings" ministry began one year ago with the Additional Contact formation of this TTB committee, whose initial task was to revise and impleInformation ment our church's endowment fund bylaws. These bylaws were approved in Traditional Music : October of last year, at which time our endowment fund was established at Daniel Reineke 656-0963, the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) Foundation in St. Louis with a Contemporary Music: total of $76,500. Typically, gifts to an enOffice: 251-1477 dowment come from an individual or family estate. DCO CORNER: Craig Cooper Last summer, when our Lutheran Church Missouri Synod met in convention, I listened online to some of the sermons. One that I remember was a very encouraging message entitled, It’s All About Love, by Rev. Nabil Nour. Here is an excerpt. “Beautiful children of the heavenly Father, you who are loved more than you can comprehend. Remember this and take it to heart: God loves you more than you can understand, more than you can comprehend. And I want you to know with certainty that it’s not because you are so good, because I don’t see anybody here that’s that good, not even President Harrison. But what I do see are men and women who have been wrapped with the righteousness of Christ, who have been baptized; their sins have been removed, and now they stand loved beyond measure so that we in return can share that love with a world that desperately needs to know of the real love, the love that cannot be purchased except by the blood of Jesus.” What a great message for our world today! Pastor Nour invites you to go with him to the Holy Land this fall. He will be showing you all the sites and will be leading daily devotions. The following is his invitation to you to experience the Holy Land: You are invited to join me, a native of Israel, born in Nazareth on a Journey to the Holy Land–Israel for an experience of a lifetime We will depart from Minneapolis on October 4 and return on October 17...walk where Jesus walked...where every page of the Bible is seen in its original context alive...cruise the Sea of Galilee...climb the Mount of Olives and view the Old City of Jerusalem...visit Tabgha, scene of the Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes...the Mount of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount and where Jesus chose His Twelve Apostles...walk the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher...stroll in the Garden of Gethsemane...visit Bethlehem...the Church of the Nativity and much more. What to expect: During this 13-day tour, you will experience the sounds, smells and sights of two civilizations the old and the new. You will stand at the cross roads of history and feel the vibrant influence of how this land shapes all other lands. We will do more than just visit sights. We will go off the beaten path and have personal and daily devotions. The Bible will be our map and guide. Experience the Holy Land–a place like no other. Please join me on this blessed adventure. The price is $4,050.00 and it includes: air fare from Minneapolis to Tel Aviv and back to Minneapolis, hotel accommodations (for double occupancy) tips, entry fees and all meals. The Sunday School at Trinity will be returning to a traditional structure next fall. Please volunteer today to help! We have a need for 8 – 10 people to teach and help with our classes. Prayerfully consider giving your time to this educational ministry. Pastoral Call Committee Update The Pastoral Call Committee held an organizational meeting on March 23, 2017. As you all know by now, Pastor Paul will be retiring at the end of September, which will create a Pastor vacancy at Trinity. An informational meeting was held on March 13th, with Pastor Fondow, President of the MN North District, to discuss the procedure and process that is involved in making a “Call.” Also assisting our Church will be Circuit Pastor, Pastor Brady Finnern from Messiah Lutheran Church in Sartell. Jeff Cziok and Jon Lenz will Co-Chair the Call Committee process at Trinity, along with a group of dedicated Trinity members – a complete list of committee members will be listed in the Sunday bulletin on April 2nd. We will be asking the congregation for their assistance, namely to identify goals for Trinity, and Pastoral expectations. The Call Committee will additionally be asking the congregation to “Nominate a Pastor for Consideration,” if they wish, and to assist with our “SelfStudy.” This process will begin on April 2nd, and the congregation will have 3 weeks to complete these items. During this time, we ask you for your prayers, guidance, and assistance. We ask that you keep Pastor Paul and Nancy in your prayers as they transition into a new adventure. We ask that you call upon the Holy Spirit, to be with Trinity, and assist us with our mission and vision. Prayerfully, Jeff Cziok, Call Committee Co-Chair 4

Worship and Music Notes How deep the Father's love for us, how vast beyond all measure, That He should give His only Son to make a wretch His treasure. How great the pain of searing loss; the Father turns His face away, As wounds which mar the Chosen One bring many sons to glory. Behold the Man upon a cross, my sin upon His shoulders; Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice call out among the scoffers. It was my sin that held Him there until it was accomplished; His dying breath has brought me life: I know that it is finished.

Some people singing or hearing "How Deep the Father's Love for Us" may think it's an old hymn. It was written in 1995 by Stuart Townend who, up to that point, had written only contemporary songs. One day, as he was meditating on the cross, Stuart had a feeling he was going to write a hymn--in particular, what it cost the Father to give up His beloved Son to a torturous death on a cross. "What was my part in it? Not only was it my sin that put Him there, but if I'd lived at that time, it would probably have been me in that crowd, shouting with everyone else 'crucify Him'. It just makes His sacrifice all the more personal . . . all the more humbling." This song is being used as a worship resource all over the world to remind us just how deep the Father's love is for all of us . . . (**Taken from "Then Sings My Soul", Book 3, by Robert J. Morgan)

I will not boast in anything, no gifts, no power, no wisdom; But I will boast in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection. Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer. But this I know with all my heart: His wounds have paid my ransom. Blessings as you continue your journey to the cross and to the empty tomb! Ruth Immerfall, Contemporary Music Director [email protected]/320.291.9293

Ha Ha Ha… It was Palm Sunday but because of a sore throat, 5-year-old Johnny stayed home from church with a sitter. When the family returned home, they were carrying several palm fronds. Johnny asked them what they were for. "People held them over Jesus' head as he walked by," his father told him. "Wouldn't you know it," Johnny fumed, "the one Sunday I don't go and he shows up." 5
