TRIP TO TULSA! A road trip for art lovers. ITINERARY Friday, May 4 8:00am Depart University Christian Church north parking lot. We will travel by chartered coach to Tulsa, Oklahoma (about 4 ½ hours). Guests are asked to bring a lunch so we can stop along the way to have a time-saving picnic. Ice and bottled waters will be furnished on the bus. On arrival in Tulsa we will make a brief stop at our hotel to check in. 3:00pm We’ll go to the Philbrook Museum and Gardens to see the museum’s fine collection housed in nine galleries ranging from European art to Native American art, as well as the magnificent botanical gardens. 6:00pm we’ll have a dinner at the museum’s La Villa Restaurant either in the opulent dining room or on the terrace overlooking the fabulous museum gardens (weather permitting).

Saturday, May 5 We’ll have a casual morning to enjoy a leisurely breakfast at our hotel. 11:00am–3:00pm We begin the day with a trip to the wonderful Gilcrease Museum which houses the world’s largest and most comprehensive collection of art and artifacts of the American West, including an unparalleled collection of Native American art and material. As a bonus our visit will include the temporary exhibition Norman Rockwell: Behind the Camera. This landmark exhibition sheds new light on Norman Rockwell’s art and artistry. This is the first exhibition to explore in depth Rockwell’s richly detailed study of photographs created by the artist as references for his iconic paintings. Lunch will be on your own at the museum’s lovely restaurant overlooking the Osage Hills 3:00pm “The Mayo Hotel” Tour & Private Dinner After our exploration of the Gilcrease, we’ll head for downtown Tulsa to visit the Art Deco masterpiece, The Mayo Hotel. We’ll enjoy a private tour which will detail the hotel’s storied past, including tales of famous guests like President John F. Kennedy, Bob Hope, Charles Lindbergh, Babe Ruth, Lucille Ball, Charlie Chaplin and Elvis Presley, as well as revered oilmen J. Paul Getty and Waite Phillips, among many others. After our tour we’ll have fantastic dinner together in a private dining room in this unique hotel.

Sunday, May 6 10:45am We’ll have another easy morning to enjoy breakfast at our hotel before attending the services at the beautiful First Christian Church in downtown Tulsa. We’ll check out of our hotel before heading to the Sunday worship services. Following church we will sit down to a family-style barbecue lunch at a nearby iconic BBQ restaurant. 5:30pm We plan to return to UCC.

NOTE: Choir members will not be singing for the Sunday services, as May 6 is Youth Sunday. Dress rehearsal for the special concert on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM will be held on Thursday evening, May 3. We are planning to arrive back at UCC in time for choir members singing in the concert to have time to freshen up before the 7:00 PM start time.

The $365 cost is all-inclusive except for Friday’s bagged lunch and Saturday’s lunch at the Gilcrease. Deposit due by April 15, 2018.
