TSL Still Photography Guide Content Candids: Images that capture real moments are often the most powerful and interesting. Try to get the team working and interacting with locals without anyone looking at the camera. Of course, posed shots of people and groups smiling are awesome to have as well! Just don’t neglect the candids. Parent/student: Photos of parents and their students serving alongside each other and/or smiling for your shot are gold! In Transit/global(x) shirts is a big bonus. Our partners: Include photos of the local kids/families the team is serving. Local life: If your team takes a trip to a market or goes for a hike, we would love to have images of the country you visit. Photos with and without our team in the frame.

Style Clean: Please don’t pre-crop or put filters on your images (if shooting with a phone). If images need post-processing, we can handle that on our end later. Do not intentionally take angled or slanted shots. Keep shots as level as you can. If shooting with your phone, make sure you’re always tapping your screen where you want it to focus and adjust to light. Note that you can adjust exposure by dragging up or down the sun icon that appears when you tap to focus (iPhone). Avoid using your flash whenever possible. High res: Ideally, please use the raw image setting on your DSLR. If you are shooting with your phone, use the camera feature (don’t capture and save from apps like Snapchat). Also if using your phone, do not use your digital zoom. Ever. Phone zooms only decrease image quality and resolution. Walk closer to your subject if you need a closer view.
