Underestimated Aaron Brockett | John 6:1-15

Have you ever been where you really don’t want to be?

God is interested in you.

After this, Jesus crossed over to the far side of the Sea of Galilee, also known as the Sea of Tiberias. A huge crowd kept following Him wherever He went, because they saw His miraculous signs as He healed the sick. Then Jesus climbed a hill and sat down with His disciples around him. John 6:1-3 (NLT)

God has always accomplished extraordinary things by partnering with ordinary people.

Jesus soon saw a huge crowd of people coming to look for Him. Turning to Philip, He asked, “Where can we buy bread to feed all these people?” He was testing Philip, for He already knew what He was going to do. Philip replied, “Even if we worked for months, we wouldn’t have enough money to feed them!” John 6:5-7 (NLT)

Then Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up. “There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?” John 6:8-9 (NLT)

“Tell everyone to sit down,” Jesus said. So they all sat down on the grassy slopes. Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people. Afterward He did the same with the fish. And they all ate as much as they wanted. After everyone was full, Jesus told His disciples, “Now gather the leftovers, so that nothing is wasted.” So they picked up the pieces and filled twelve baskets with scraps left by the people who had eaten from the five barley loaves. When the people saw Him do this miraculous sign, they exclaimed, “Surely, He is the Prophet we have been expecting!” John 6:10-14 (NLT)

Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!

Then Jesus rebuked the demon in the boy, and it left him. From that moment the boy was well.

Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.”

Luke 5:24 (NLT)

Matthew 17:18 (NLT)

Luke 7:48 (NLT)

Then Jesus placed His hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly. Mark 8:25 (NLT)

So they picked up the pieces and filled twelve baskets with scraps left by the people who had eaten from the five barley loaves. John 6:13 (NLT)

A miracle is meant to direct people’s attention to God.

You can be someone else’s miracle.

“You are the light of the world — like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” Matthew 5:14-16 (NLT)

You have been strategically placed to draw people’s attention to your heavenly Father.

What can I do with the opportunities God has given me in the location where I live, work, and play … what can I do that would draw people’s attention toward my heavenly Father?

You can be the recipient of a miracle.

What you don’t understand initially, you will come to experience eventually.

If you were to ask God for a miracle, what would you ask?
