Unpacking Eternal Life Eternal life is REAL. John 4:13-14 (English Standard Version) Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

John 4:28-29 (ESV) So the woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people, ”Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?”

Eternal life is NOW. John 17:3 (ESV) And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

Eternal life is DEEP. Ephesians 3:17-19 (ESV) …you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Eternal life is FOREVER. 1. God has a plan 2. Man has a problem

For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. – Romans 3:23



For the wages of sin is death… – Romans 6:23a

3. Jesus is the answer

…but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Rom. 6:23b



And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. – 1 John 5:11-12 (Continues on back)

So how do we respond? Luke 9:23-24 (English Standard Version) “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.”

1) How’s your actual vision? Are you 20/20 or something else. If you wear glasses or contacts, describe what its like to try to see without them. 2) What do you think about the idea that eternal life is NOW? What do you think holds people back from experience that eternal with Jesus life today, in everyday life? 3) Do you already know God’s vision for your life? Tell the group if you know. If you don’t, has God given you any hints, or does the group have any ideas? 4) What would it look like for you to make Jesus the center of every area of your life? What things might change? How would your life be different? 6) How can we pray for you tonight?
