Fewzion system requirements (for desktop / laptop users) Fewzion isn't software you need to install. Instead, it runs on the web browser you normally use to access web pages on the internet. Use this page to find out what browser and system settings you need to be able access Fewzion, and what else you should do to get the best possible user experience. A PDF document reader such as Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view and print Fewzion’s reports, unless you are using Google Chrome which has built-in support for PDF documents.

Supported browsers Fewzion runs on any of the following browsers, however we highly recommend you use Google Chrome with Fewzion (why?). JavaScript and Cookies must be enabled.     

Google Chrome 20+ Internet Explorer 11+ (known issues with IE8 & IE9) Firefox 20+ (PC, Mac) Safari 4+ Opera 11+ (PC, Mac)

Operating system Fewzion is accessed through a web browser, so it can be said that Fewzion is operating system (and hardware) agnostic, much like you would expect from any other web page you access through your web browser. Fewzion can be accessed from any current Windows, Mac or Linux based computer. More specifically Fewzion is known to work in the following operating systems  

Windows 98 (or greater) (known drag and drop issue with Windows 8) Mac OS X v10.5 (or greater)

Screen resolution Screens in Fewzion are designed to make the most of your browser’s window size (how?), so your user experience in Fewzion will be enhanced by an increased screen resolution. Fewzion’s minimum screen resolution is 1024 x 768 pixels, however we highly recommend a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (or above) for the optimum user expedience.

Hardware (your computer) Fewzion is accessed through a web browser, so it can be said that Fewzion is hardware (and operating system) agnostic, much like you would expect from any other web page you access through your web browser. We highly recommend a computer with 2 or more cores and 500 Mb of available RAM for the optimum user expedience.

Network Thanks to the capabilities of modern browsers Fewzion has only a small network footprint which enables it to be responsive through an average broadband internet connection (e.g. ADSL 1, 3G, ISDN, etc.). However for an optimum experience in a multi-user environment we recommend ADSL 2/2+ or 4+ mbps fiber optic internet connection. Other important factors are network latency and reliability, so in the event that you don’t have access to a reliable high speed broadband connection, Fewzion can be installed within your local area network.

FAQ Why is Google Chrome the recommended browsers to use with Fewzion? Google Chrome is the fastest browser currently available and are regularly updated to adopt the latest advances in web technology which enable Fewzion to deliver richest possible user experience. These latest advances include features like file upload by drag and drop from the desktop into Fewzion, one click application shortcut creation (Chrome specific) and built-in support for PDF documents (Chrome specific). In the event your corporate policies prevent you from running Google Chrome, we suggest you look at What option is there if I must use Internet Explorer?

What option is there if I must use Internet Explorer? We recommend to use Internet Explorer 11+ browser. If you must use an older version of Internet explorer due to corporate policy, etc. you may find that Google Chrome Frame is a viable alternative. Google Chrome Frame is a free plug-in for Internet Explorer which provides you with the additional features and exceptional performance available on Google Chrome. More information about Google Chrome Frame can be found here http://www.google.com/chromeframe, however you should only consider this solution following consultation with your system administrator.

What are the known issues with IE8 & IE9? Both IE8 & IE9 are slow browsers by current standard, so in combination with a slow computer the weekly schedule and roster screens, which are information rich screens, will often cause Internet Explorer to display the “A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly.” message. The Knowledge Base Article 175500 at Microsoft’s Support website suggesting a workaround for this message can be found here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/175500, however you should only consider this solution following consultation with your system administrator.

What can I make the most out of my screen resolution? Firstly make sure your browser’s window is maximized such that it is using the entire screen. Optionally you may like to set your browser to full screen by pressing F11, then once done press F11 to exit full screen mode.
