VINEYARD EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER LEAD TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION RESPONSIBILITY: Primary oversight for teaching a class of children ages 6 weeks – 5 years of age. To be a role model and to maintain a positive attitude. Teachers are to report to the Director. The Director will evaluate teaching performance. TYPICAL DUTIES 1. Develops lesson plans in compliance with curriculum and early learning standards. 2. Supervises and assists in the training of assistant teachers. 3. Carries out school discipline policies. 4. Attends professional development classes to meet state licensing and SUTQ requirements. 5. Assists students with restroom needs and personal cleanliness. 6. Knows and follows all safety procedures. 7. Knows and follows ODJFS licensing rules. 8. Is responsible for filling out accident and injury reports. 9. Participates in meetings to make recommendations and to receive input regarding schedules and priorities. 10. Maintains good parental relationships and promotes Vineyard Early Childhood Center and Vineyard Columbus activities. 11. Attends special VECC functions (Open House, parent conferences, etc.) 12. Supervises playground: interacts with children during outdoor play and intervenes in possible safety hazards. 13. Informs Director of supplies and materials needed for classroom use. 14. Reports any suspected safety or health hazards to Director for correction. 15. Maintains an age appropriate learning environment in the classroom PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.

A mature Christian A member of Vineyard Columbus Experience with children ages 6 weeks – 5 years. Uses positive methods of pupil control. Patient, reliable, self-controlled Relates well to adults Able to lead and works well in a team-teaching situation.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 1. An Early Childhood Education certificate. 2. Minimum 12 credits in Early Childhood Education. Six semester units must be completed prior to employment. Two additional units must be completed per semester until the minimum of 12 post secondary semester units is reached. These educational units shall include course which cover the general areas of

child growth and development or human growth and development; child, family, and community; and program/curriculum. 3. A fully qualified teacher also needs at least six month of work experience in the early childhood field. EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
