VINEYARD EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER LEAD TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION RESPONSIBILITY: Primary oversight for teaching a class of children ages 3-5 years of age. To be a role model and to maintain a positive attitude. Teachers are to report to the Director. The Director will evaluate teaching performance. TYPICAL DUTIES • Knows and follows ODJFS licensing rules • Maintains a clean classroom and follows cleaning procedures • Develops age-appropriate lesson plans in compliance with curriculum and early learning standards • Maintains an age appropriate learning environment in the classroom • Informs Director of supplies and materials needed for classroom use • Supervises and assists in the training of assistant teachers • Carries out school discipline policies • Attends professional development classes to meet state licensing and SUTQ requirements • Assists students with restroom needs and personal cleanliness • Knows and follows all safety procedures • Knows and follows ODJFS licensing rules • Is responsible for filling out accident and injury reports • Participates in meetings to make recommendations and to receive input regarding schedules and priorities • Maintains positive parental relationships and promotes Vineyard Early Childhood Center and Vineyard Columbus activities • Attends special center functions (Family Engagement nights, Parent Conferences, etc.) • Supervises playground: interacts with children during indoor/outdoor play and intervenes in possible safety hazards • Reports any suspected safety or health hazards to Director for correction. A mature Christian and a member of Vineyard Columbus Experience working with children ages 3-5 years. Uses positive methods of pupil control. Patient, reliable, self-controlled Relates well to adults Able to lead and works well in a team-teaching situation

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS • •

An Early Childhood Education certificate (PREFERED) OR a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. A fully qualified teacher also needs at least six month of work experience in the early childhood field.
