Welcome: God’s Call to Hospitality

July 26, 2020

Won’t You Be My Neighbor? Luke 10: 25-37 Luke 10:25-37 25 And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" 26 He said to him, "What is written in the Law? How do you read it?" 27 And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself." 28 And he said to him, "You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live." 29

But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"

Jesus replied, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. 30

31

Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side.

32

So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.

But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, 'Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.' 33

36

Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?"

37

He said, "The one who showed him mercy." And Jesus said to him, "You go, and do likewise."

Reckless Love

Who You Say I Am

Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me You have been so, so good to me Before I took a breath,

Who am I that the highest King would welcome me? I was lost but He brought me in, oh His love for me Oh His love for me

You breathed Your life in me You have been so, so kind to me.

Who the Son sets free, oh is free indeed I'm a child of God, Yes I am

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine I couldn't earn it, and I don't deserve it, still, You give Yourself away Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God.

Free at last, He has ransomed me, His grace runs deep While I was a slave to sin, Jesus died for me Yes He died for me

When I was Your foe, still Your love fought for me. You have been so, so good to me. When I felt no worth, You paid it all for me. You have been so, so kind to me. There's no shadow You won't light up, mountain You won't climb up Coming after me There's no wall You won't kick down, lie You won't tear down Coming after me There's no shadow You won't light up, mountain You won't climb up Coming after me There's no wall You won't kick down, lie You won't tear down Coming after me

Who the Son sets free, oh is free indeed I'm a child of God, yes I am In my Father's house there’s a place for me I'm a child of God, yes I am I am chosen, not forsaken I am who You say I am You are for me, not against me I am who You say I am I am who You say I am.

Called Me Higher

For Your Kingdom

I could just sit, I could just sit, and wait for all Your goodness Hope to feel Your presence, and I could just stay, I could just stay Right where I am and hope to feel You Hope to feel something again

We pray You’d anoint our hands For Your kingdom, for Your kingdom We pray You’d anoint our feet For Your kingdom, for Your kingdom

And I could hold on, I could hold on to who I am And never let You, Change me from the inside And I could be safe, I could be safe here in Your arms And never leave home, Never let these walls down

Where the blind see, the lame walk The deaf hear your voice The dead are raised, they sing your praise Good news is preached to the poor

But You have called me higher You have called me deeper And I'll go where You will lead me Lord You have called me higher You have called me deeper And I'll go where You lead me Lord Where You lead me

We pray You’d anoint our eyes For Your kingdom, for Your kingdom We pray You’d anoint our ears For Your kingdom, for Your kingdom

Where You lead me, Lord And I will be Yours, oh I will be Yours for all my life And I will be Yours, oh I will be Yours for all my life And I will be Yours, oh I will be Yours for all my life So let Your mercy Oh, and I will be Yours, Lord And I will be Yours for all my life So let Your mercy Light the path before me Where You lead me Where You lead me Lord Where You lead me Where You lead me Lord

We pray You’d anoint our thoughts For Your kingdom, for Your kingdom We pray You’d anoint our words For Your kingdom, for Your kingdom All the glory All the honor All the praise to You
