WANGANUI HIGH SCHOOL REPRESENTATIVES Students representing Wanganui High School in any co- curricular activity are expected to positively uphold and enhance the ‘Life’ values of Wanganui High School whilst preparing for, participating in, or attending any event. Wanganui High School representatives are bound by the Smoke, Drug, and Alcohol Free conditions under which all events are managed.

CRITERIA TO REPRESENT WANGANUI HIGH SCHOOL Students should have or show:       

90% attendance. Consideration given to those with justifiable or explained absences. Satisfactory punctuality. Any student currently on Class Entry may not be eligible. Satisfactory work effort, as currently indicated by teachers, or achieved 75% of available internal credits. No Diploma concerns for Year 13 students. Acceptable pastoral behaviour. Satisfactory wearing of uniform. Any associated costs are paid prior to the event, or payment arrangements made.

Indicators   





Students making themselves available for selection need to satisfy the above criteria. TIC need to liaise with the pastoral team to check that students are meeting the criteria. The Pastoral team will liaise with the TIC to inform students and whanau at a time prior to the event so that the student is able to make the necessary changes to meet the criteria. Students and whanua are informed of non selection, and alternative arrangements can be made to substitute students. This can be reviewed on an individual basis. If appropriate, final selection will be made at least two weeks prior to event – depending on the individual event. Students and whanau will be informed if a student is unable to participate. The final decision excluding any student from any event, team or group will be made by the Principal.

Preparing for, participating in, or attending any event    

Students will wear the appropriate team uniform as directed by coaches , managers, or TIC. Those team uniforms, or any part of, will not be worn as part of the daily WHS uniform. Students are responsible for rearranging assessments, or catching up on missed work. Students to uphold and enhance ‘LIFE’ values. Any student deemed to not be upholding the WHS “Life” values, will be, if appropriate, sent home or removed from the event. This applies to participants and spectators.



Any student who is currently Stood Down or Suspended by the Principal or BOT may not participate as per : Ministry of Education Guidelines Information For Principals and BOTs Stand downs, Suspensions and Exclusions Part 1: legal options and duties December 2009 P10 Part 51 “ the student must not attend “ P 12 Part 66 “ the student must not attend”



If a student has been excluded from participating in, or spectating at an event, further consequences may be applied, which may limit the student’s involvement in future opportunities to represent Wanganui High School.

Travel  

Any associated costs are paid prior to the event, or payment arrangements made with the Bursar. Students who meet licence restrictions may drive themselves to an event, with the permission of their coach, TIC, and caregivers.

Hosting Obligations  

Students are expected to contribute financially to the cost of food, or with food as required. Students are expected to attend after match functions as per our Life values.
