We are excited to begin our “By Faith” Sermon Series + Launch Party - Sun. Oct. 09.

Like we’ve done in the past, we are going to start our study in Hebrews chapter 11, with a PARTY. Throughout this series, we are going to learn about and hear inspiring stories of how God has worked “by faith” in the lives of people from the Bible and our Church family. “By Faith Wall” Thank You to all who have sent in their “By Faith” statements In sharing our faith moments, we all can grow and be encouraged! There is still time to share yours! [email protected] All- Church Celebration Kick Off Dinner, Sat. Oct. 29!

Dear FBC Family and Friends! I want to invite you over for dinner.

† Pastor Glen Keeffe x.13

Trust me, the food will be amazing. And certainly, the company will be better, because on October 29th our church family is gathering for an All-Church Dinner. We don’t do this often, and so when we do, it’s usually because of something pretty important. And this meal is big.

We are gathering together to dream and plan for our future as a church. This dinner is the kickoff event for our Families Reaching Families Campaign. If anyone has been around FBC for more than a week, they’ve heard us talking about this vision behind the campaign. For a refresher, take a look at the brochure you’re receiving with this letter. It tells of our conviction that this church needs to become far more effective in reaching out to the families of our community.

We are gathering together to dream and plan for our future as a church.

You will hear two big messages at our dinner: Investment and Involvement. At our meal you’ll receive a pledge card to prayerfully consider how you might financially invest towards our future. And then there’s involvement. We recognize some who just can’t contribute financially. We want to let you know this campaign is about both ministries and facilities. There are so many different places for people to embrace this vision. At our dinner we’ll spend some time talking about the need for practical hands on involvement moving forward. CELEBRATION DINNER TICKETS: We want to see you and your family there, so please stop by our table in the Family Center and pick up your TICKETS on Sundays, Oct. 02 through Oct. 25, or go to www.sheltonfbc.org/families to register there! There’s so much more that we want to tell you. I can’t wait to tell you about that over dinner.

Another Opportunity to plan and dream All-Church Renovation Design Sessions: Oct. 01. 04. 08. We are inviting members and attenders of FBC into the design process - to give input, brainstorm and envision how our mission of Families Reaching Families should impact our facilities. Aesthetic preferences, entry concepts, ideas for improving circulation around the building, ways to make the facility safer, opportunities to support ministry better – all of these and more will be considered together, in a fun group format.

Your input will help shape how our church will welcome, engage, and minister to new families, as we Invest in Tomorrow’s Church Today! Please plan to join us for one of these Design Sessions dates. Sat. Oct. 01. 10 am - 12 noon. light refreshments provided

NEWS from FBC’s BOAZ Team Some of our church family members may wonder what FBC’s BOAZ ministry is. The BOAZ ministry was formed in 2008 to look for opportunities to provide helping hands to our church families and neighbors with small projects. These might include mowing lawns, cleaning gutters, minor handyman repairs and/or praying with someone. Why the name BOAZ? The name was chosen from the book of RUTH, where a man named Boaz helped two widows in need. Our annual BOAZ “Day of Caring” was born with the first event picking up trash in downtown Shelton. The event is now held annually in April with 20 or more projects each year and has provided hundreds of helping hands to many within our church family and in the broader community. The team also provides ongoing assistance throughout the year.

We are currently looking for people who are willing to volunteer occasionally with calls for help or if you would like to be on the BOAZ Team.

In addition, BOAZ oversees FBC’s financial support for local ministries such as: CareNet Pregnancy Center, Community Lifeline (St. David’s Kitchen), Gethsemane Ministry, Love INC., Turning Pointe Domestic Violence, Young Life and Youth for Christ. We are currently looking for people who are willing to volunteer occasionally with calls for help or if you would like to be on the BOAZ Team. Please contact Gerry or Doris Zacher (360) 462-0269. BOAZ Team Members: Scott and Tracey Burnfield, Damon and Shannon Ernst, Daniel Morales, John Schute, Ben and Lynn Settle, Gerry and Doris Zacher.
