The theme for our Webelos Woods/Fall Camporee is the “Scientist” activity pin. Webelos who attend will complete all but one requirement. “Visit a museum, a laboratory, an observatory, a zoo, an aquarium, or other facility that employs scientists. Talk to a scientist about his or her work.” Please consider doing this requirement prior to attending. Troop Stations: Each Troop attending will chose from a list of requirements and give a brief talk, instruction or demonstration of the requirements. These demonstrations should be no more than 20 minutes long. Troops can assist at camp sites with any additional activity pin they choose such as Outdoorsman and at camp fire Showman can be included in skit or songs.

Troops can choose from the following requirement: 1. Read and demonstrate Bernoulli's Principle. Show how it works. 2. Read and demonstrate Pascal's Law. Tell about some inventions that use Pascal's law. 3. Read and demonstrate Newton's first law of motion. Show in three different ways how inertia works. 4. Explain the scientific method. Give examples. 5. Show the effects of atmospheric pressure. 6. Show the effects of air pressure. 7. Show the effects of water pressure. This may be combined with atmospheric pressure or with air pressure. 8. Describe how Newton's third law of motion explains how the rocket is propelled into the sky. 9. Explain what causes fog. Show how this works. 10. Explain how crystals are formed. Make some. 11. Explain how you use your center of gravity to keep your balance. Show three different balancing tricks. 12. Show in three different ways how your eyes work together, and show what is meant by an optical illusion. 9:30 – 11:30 AM and 1:30 – 1:30 PM Troop Stations in and around dining hall, how it will work: Webelos will be provided a “mission log” with the requirements for the Scientist activity pin. Each time they complete a session they will get a section stamped. This will be their record of completing the tasks, and can be used to get their pin when they complete “all“ the requirements. Each troop will provide a talk, instruction or demonstration on the topic they pick that is no more than 20 minutes long. Webelos scouts will attend a troop session for 20 minutes and have 5 minute break to get to the next session. Sessions will be set up around the dining hall and drive so that travel time will be reduced. We will continue and repeat the 20 minute session/ 5 minute travel/ 20 minute session until all scouts have seen all sessions.
