WHANGANUI RESTORATIVE CITY CONFERENCE Making Sense of Restorative Practice – An International Exchange of Ideas Friday 28th and Saturday 29th March, 2014

Friday 28 March 8-8.30am

Registration

8.45am

Powhiri / Welcome / Opening Focus of the conference is on mutual learning, where information is partly “presented” and partly “generated” and co-constructed by participants; and the introduction of the idea and benefits of an international learning network.

9.30am

Keynote Speaker: Jennifer Llewellyn, Associate Professor, Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia-Canada The purpose of a community-wide restorative approach.

10am to 12.30pm Learning Workshops: Facilitated by international guests in partnership with local experts. International guests and the Whanganui experts share their stories. The workshops are facilitated around key ideas and a range of challenges and tasks for leaders and participants to be immersed in. Each individual therefore has the opportunity to contribute and learn. Attendees need to make their workshop choices before the day. 12.30-1.30pm

Regroup: The International guests and the Whanganui experts feedback to all participants.

Close of day

Dinner Guest Speaker: The entertaining, dynamic and humble Kim Workman. Kim is well known in restorative circles for his leadership of Rethinking Crime and Punishment, Prison Fellowship, Department of Corrections and Te Puni Kokiri.
