Decoding Jesus For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

Sermon Questions: •

Jesus’ message to Nicodemus wrapped up in the idea of being born again is that people will enter God’s kingdom via faith in Jesus (i.e. the Son of Man). To clarify His message Jesus uses a number of metaphors or word pictures (being born of water and spirit; what’s flesh is flesh and what is spirit is spirit and the comparison of lifting up the serpent in Numbers 21 to gazing at the son of man if faith (John 3:14-15). How would you summarize all that He says in John 3:1-15?

Sermon Questions: •

It almost appears that Nicodemus seems to have faith or belief in Christ in John 3:1-2. However, John 3:3-15 quickly explodes that myth. Nicodemus knows that Jesus is connected with God; however, Nicodemus doesn’t grasp who Jesus is. How can we tell?

Is it possible to know your Bible and not know God for salvation? Why is this true?
