What Will You Find At Christmas Pastor Ray Noah
CHRISTMAS
AT PORTLAND CHRISTIAN CENTER Christmas has been called “the most wonderful time of the year” And it is—for many reasons But the main reason this season is so wonderful is because of the love story from which it arises Christmas is about God’s love for us, a love so strong that He left His heavenly glory to become one of us through the birth of His Son, Jesus, in order that we might be reunited with God as His fully loved children You see, we human beings had become hopelessly estranged from God because of our sin—we were lost, in darkness and impossibly distanced from God—but God bridged that dark, impossible divide by moving close to us as a baby born a human in Bethlehem’s manger During this Christmas season, as Portland Christian Center retells this incredibly love story in a variety of ways, our hope and prayer is that you will experience that same incarnate love of a God who has come near to you through Jesus His Son in the most wonderful way

It is important in our Christian tradition that we revisit the story of Christmas each year— the greatest of stories ever told Complacency among Christians toward Christmas has allowed our culture to hijack it and adorn it with commercialism and secularism so much that the Christ of Christmas fades into the background a little further with each passing year This series will enable us to focus on the true Light of Christmas—Jesus Christ—rather than the external trappings of the season And by doing so, we will be equipped to retell the real Christmas story, and to relive it in our own homes in the most wonderful way Each sermon coincides with the four traditional lights of Advent we will observe this year: the Light of Hope, the Light of Peace, the Light of Joy and the Light of Love
