Invest in FBCS We have launched Invest in FBCS for the month of October. We are moving forward as a community of faith and are asking you to partner with us as we continue God’s work at FBCScottsdale and the surrounding community. You can partner with us in three specific areas by committing your volunteer time, money, and inviting people to church over the next six months. You will find an Investment Card in this worship folder that will be turned in on November 3rd, please prayerfully consider your investment in this community. Equip Class We invite you to join us for a 4-week course that will help equip you in sharing your faith with those around you. We will talk about your particular style, what makes Christianity unique, look at how Jesus conducted Himself when it came to helping people see the life that He offered, as well as, a few other items. The class will start on Sunday, November 3rd in E101 at 5:30p. Halloween Apps Night The youth will be hanging out Thursday, October 31st 7:30 - 9:00p in the two youth rooms (A7 and A8). We will play life-size phone app games, watch a movie, and eat sugar filled snacks. Come dressed in your G or PG costume and bring a friend, or ten. Joyce Reed Mission Circle - Inservice Day Join us on Saturday, November 16th from 10:00a - Noon in C2 for a chance to serve alongside these talented women. Refreshments will be served. Intro to FBCS Are you new to FBCScottsdale and looking for more information about who we are and what we do? Join us for Intro to FBCS where you can meet the staff, ask questions, and find out how to get connected. Intro to FBCS is every first Sunday of the month in the Gallery after second service. SERMON NOTES October 27th, 2013

Invested 12 The whole assembly became silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul telling about the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them. 13 When they finished, James spoke up. ‘Brothers,’ he said, ‘listen to me. 14 Simon has described to us how God first intervened to choose a people for his name from the Gentiles. 15 The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written: 16 ‘“After this I will return and rebuild David’s fallen tent. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it, 17 that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles who bear my name, says the Lord, who does these things”– 18 things known from long ago. 19 ‘It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. 20 Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. 21 For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.’ (Acts 15:12-21, NIV)
