WELCOME to FBCScottsdale We’re glad you’ve chosen to worship at FBCScottsdale this morning. If this is your first time, we would love to get to know you a little better, so please fill out the card that is inside this Worship folder. You can put the card in the offering plate as it goes by. Enjoy the service!

The vision of FBCScottsdale is to be a light in the community, where people come as they are to worship and explore God, connect with people, and get involved in ministry to the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.

Community Potluck Join us for a church wide potluck on Sunday, April 27th after second service in C1. Women’s Ministries will host, all you need to do is just bring a main dish, appetizer, side, or dessert to share. This will be a great time to meet new people, fellowship, and enjoy some great food. But Did He Really? A discussion on the historicity and reality - or not - of Jesus’s resurrection. Join us at Winfield’s on Sunday, April 27th at 6:30p for a no-questions-barred panel discussion on the reality of the resurrection. Mark Young will moderate a town-hall style panel with theology professor, Al Glenn and retired pastor, Boyd Baker. They will attempt to answer many common - and some uncommon questions about this central event in Christianity. Any and all questions from the audience are encouraged. This is a free event open to the public, no reservation required. There is no child care provided, but Winfield’s will be in full service. Come hear (and share) about the answer to the number one question about Jesus Christ: Did he really come back from the dead?

SERMON NOTES April 20th, 2014

24:1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8 Then they remembered his words. 9 When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. 11 But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. 12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened. (Luke 24:1-12, NIV) 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke 4:18-19, NIV)
