WELCOME to FBCScottsdale

SERMON NOTES November 2nd, 2014

We’re glad you’ve chosen to worship at FBCScottsdale this morning. If this is your first time, we would love to get to know you a little better, so please fill out the card that is inside this Worship folder. You can put the card in the offering plate as it goes by. Enjoy the service!

The vision of FBCScottsdale is to be a light in the community, where people come as they are to worship and explore God, connect with people, and get involved in ministry to the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.

Celebrate Recovery’s Eight Recovery Principles Realize I’m not God; I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable. Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him and that He has the power to help me recover. “Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ’s care and control.

World Mission Offering We will be collecting the World Mission Offering during the month of November. The World Mission Offering directly supports the entire network of IM missionaries, staff, projects, and partners in 70 countries around the world. Joyce Reed In-service Day Join the ladies on Saturday, November 15th in C2 from 9:00a - 2:00p for an Inservice day. They will be making Christmas items for Chaneni House. Grab a friend and come on by.

Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust.

Interfaith Talk: A Conversation About the Impact of Life in Faith Join FBCScottsdale and KnowledgeWorks for a panel discussion Sunday, November 16th. Music & coffee will start at 6:00p and the discussion will begin at 6:30p. The panel will be a group of religious leaders from different faith backgrounds (Judaism, Christianity, Mormonism, and Islam). We will discuss similarities and differences, how to get along, and how to work together to impact the community. Mountain Top Ministies Gathering Come meet Willem Charles, Director of Mountain Top Ministries in Haiti at an informal gathering on Saturday, November 15th at 6:30p in Winfield’s. Many of our FBCS people have gone to Haiti on Medical and Building Missions. Here is a chance for a reunion. But the rest of us are invited to take this opportunity to meet him in person and to hear more about this vital ministry of evangelism, education, healing and community development. Willem will be preaching on Sunday morning, November 16th at both services.

Reserve a time with God for self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer in order to

Voluntarily submit to any and all changes God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects. Evaluate all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I’ve done to others when possible, except when to do so would harm them or others. know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will. Yield myself to God to be used to bring this Good News to others, both by my example and my words.
