Invest in FBCS We have launched Invest in FBCS for the month of October. We are moving forward as a community of faith and are asking you to partner with us as we continue God’s work at FBCScottsdale and the surrounding community. You can partner with us in three specific areas by committing your volunteer time, money, and inviting people to church over the next six months. You will find an Investment Card in this worship folder that will be turned in on October 27th, please prayerfully consider your investment in this community. Full Services Posted Online We are now posting all of second service onine! We used to only be able to post the sermons, but now we can include openers, worship, and even special elements! Wednesday Night Activites All regular Wednesday night activities will meet this week (fall break) and the children, preschool through 5th grade, will have a movie night in the B building. Invite your friends! Intro to FBCS Are you new to FBCScottsdale and looking for more information about who we are and what we do? Join us for Intro to FBCS where you can meet the staff, ask questions, and find out how to get connected. Intro to FBCS is every first Sunday of the month in the Gallery after second service. No pressure, no commitments, just information. Christmas Tree Festival The FBCScottsdale Christmas Tree Festival will be on display during the month of December. The Tree Festival is an opportunity for individuals or groups to express their creativity, highlight a ministry, or share feelings about the season by decorating a tree in the church lobby. SERMON NOTES October 13th, 2013

Invested 8 Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people. 9 Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called) – Jews of Cyrene and Alexandria as well as the provinces of Cilicia and Asia – who began to argue with Stephen. 10 But they could not stand up against the wisdom the Spirit gave him as he spoke. 11 Then they secretly persuaded some men to say, ‘We have heard Stephen speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God.’ 12 So they stirred up the people and the elders and the teachers of the law. They seized Stephen and brought him before the Sanhedrin. 13 They produced false witnesses, who testified, ‘This fellow never stops speaking against this holy place and against the law. 14 For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs Moses handed down to us.’ 15 All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.
